Kudos to VEC Field Team for responding to two recent power issues in Kingston. One was an area-wide problem that was resolved in the pre-dawn hours just prior to a snow storm hitting the area. The second was an issue with my transformer that showed itself on a Monday holiday, just prior to a severe cold snap, to which they responded, diagnosed and repaired that same day. Thank you to that field team, and to VEC for their level of service.

It’s a reasonable service. The only issue I have is the fact that they choose to do repair work and have the power out for over 5 hours and never say anything. They claimed to give notice when I called but that was false. All of my information is up to date. My email and phone have been the same for years.

Can't keep the power on.. so far in the month of May 2024 it's gone out 5 times, 2 of those times were on the 24th. These outages have ruined a Playstation of ours ,which we filed a claim on, and this POS company denied replacing it. I used to think this company was a decent company, but the last couple years have shown me different. They claim they don't have as many outages as we (the customers) claim. I write down times and the dates of each outage. This is ridiculous and I can't afford to keep replacing my electronics due to their lack of being able to keep our power on. DO BETTER VEC!! YOU REALLY DONT DESERVE THE STAR YOU GOT!! (Update on 25th May 2024) power has gone out 7 times so far today, and has now taken out my 55 inch Samsung TV. I will see you all (VEC) on the 28th, bright and early!

Power outages are a common thing with VEC from this Decatur branch, as well as, from the Spring City branch. I’ve never experienced such horrible service from a power company before. They brag about their pride, but their pride is trash if for the past 4 yrs all I receive is outage after outage and food spoiled and just inconvenience like crazy from the branch employees when I inquire. And they have the gall to get hateful with me first. And then they cheered the rate hikes. Just the sheer audacity 🥺

Power goes out all the time. It can be a beautiful sunny day and the power goes out for hours.

The left hand don't know what the right hand is doing. They will tell you anything but don't back it up with documentation. They say they have rules, but will not show them to you. They print you off what looks to be some sort of nothing that's legal or binding. To get power They say there rule is you have to have BUY a building permit. But I'M NOT BUILDING!!! Why do I need a building permit? Your forcing an unethical situation on a ethical citizen. They refuse to show you anything in writing. They want me to also pay $100.00 even though the state of Tennessee electrical inspection guy came and passed 100% approval my existing temp pole once he saw my existing septic tank. But the Benton office REFUSES to connect until I pay the $100.00 verification septic fee.
PANKY OFFICE SAID THEY DO NOT REQUIRE A BUILDING PERMIT if your just wanting a temp pole. Volunteer electric in Decatur (Karen) is trying to say some counties require a building permit. But Benton office lady said it is a Volunteer electric RULE.
Gavin Kelly 💯% approved me, my temp pole and said they should have u up and running in a day or 2. He inspected everything and said I was good to have power.
But the EXTORTION part of the Volunteer electric has to have there extorted fees before they turn on power. The CEO can't be found. I was told others will call you on Monday so don't expect a call from the CEO very quick. He was 100% unavailable today (friday).
This company is in BAD HANDS. Like alot of big companies. Maybe the news media will get answers for me and alot of ethical citizens here in polk county that Volunteer electric is violating it's polk county human beings.
They want you to submit. They want people to bend over and take it.
They want me to apply for new service even though this land has had service for the past 70 years. OVER 13 SIBLINGS WAS RAISED AT THIS SAME LOCATION.
If your news media, please reach out to me. I'll be reaching out to news media myself as well.
Don't recommend Volunteer electric to anyone! It's a monopoly company wanting submission to unethical dishonest practices.

This place is run by crooks! Somehow had an online payment default to an older payment option got a confirmation receipt saying all good balance $0. Then at work when they turn off my power and say it is due to the bank the payment option went to denying payment so was charged $30 for the return and $30 to reconnect. Basically out $60 bucks due to a careless mistake but I feel like they could at least have waived the reconnect fee since their systems told me I was good to go. Trash company.
