The folks at Vermont Energy are first class professionals! The entire team from quote to installation to billing was amazing and gave a very fair and competitive price. We are very excited to have a heat pump installed and look forward to reaping the many benefits for years to come. Thank you Vermont Energy!

VT Energy was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm so glad they did. Everyone at VT Energy was fantastic to work with! Communication about setting up a consult, the estimate, and the installation itself were prompt and professional. Thank you for helping us stay cool this summer!

Although initially frustrated when my voicemails were not returned, I am now in awe with the customer service I received from Vermont Energy Contracting. I answered a call from Nick, who never identified himself as the owner, ready to take my information and to arrange an appointment the same day! The technicians arrived promptly, were professional and very forthcoming about the issues they uncovered. I look forward to working with them in the future.

Vermont Energy Contracting installed 2 separate units (Heat pump hot water heater and a Weil McLain gas boiler) this winter. Both units were professionally installed and are operating efficiently. We highly recommend the team responsible for these installations. From the salesman Tim Goodrich to the plumber and installers, each one was courteous, answering questions and offering helpful information.

I’m really disappointed with my experience with this company. I live about an hour and 13 minutes from their office, which wasn’t an issue when they installed my unit back in 2019. After weeks of calls, I finally got a technician to come out for service my existing unity and to quote a second one. We were told that the technician had taken photos and gathered all the information needed for a quote.

However, I was later told that they wouldn’t be providing a quote for the new job or servicing my existing unit from here on out because of my location. This was frustrating, especially since multiple team members had previously assured me that distance wouldn’t be a problem, and that they have a technician based 35 minutes away.

We’ve gone all summer without AC. It seems like the current shortage of heat pump installers is being used as an excuse for poor customer service and price gouging. I hope others can avoid the frustrations we've faced. Save yourself the headache.

Response:

I want to clarify my issue here further. Despite dozens of phone calls with your office, I was never informed that my location was outside your newly established service area. If I had known this upfront, I would have chosen another company for the new unit installation and established an appointment with another company which I'll need to service the unit you installed going forward.

Instead, a technician was sent to take photos and gather information for a quote, including a $175 charge for travel time. If I knew you would not be installing the new unit, or servicing the existing one going forward, I could have found someone local and saved myself a "travel time" bill.

You mentioned that “the unethical thing to do would have been to quote you for an installation, have you accept it, and then leave you high and dry for service moving forward.” However, it feels like that's exactly what happened when we were led to believe we were waiting on a quote, only to find ourselves at a dead end and without future service on the unit you installed.

I hope you understand our frustration, and you consider the feedback as an opportunity to improve communication and customer service with other customers who fall outside your new "1 hour from your Williston office parameter" who have units installed by you.

Initial interaction was great; installation of our two heat pumps was smooth, the installer was quick, tidy, and cleaned up after installation. The communication was adequate, and we were overall quite happy. We were promised a $350 rebate card in the mail in August. It's now June (over a year after installation), and I have yet to get a positive response from anyone at VT Energy. Having worked in customer service, if I was responsible for an error it's best practice to own up to it. This does not seem to be the case here. Hopefully our heat pumps are without issue, as I'm not sure I want to learn what their other customer support is like. I will have to look into other options on how to get our rebate.

Update: I have finally received a response from VT Energy and we have come to a solution which is acceptable for both parties. I appreciate their attempt to correct the issue. Of course, it is impossible to tell the root cause, but I am thankful of their willingness to reconcile.
