UPDATE 2/15/24: Nearly another year later and the random outages are STILL HAPPENING. I’ve had to put electronics in my house on battery backups because the amount of times the power goes out and flickers is causing damage to them. Really a shame that we have no other options for power.

Honest advice? Go solar. Don’t give this power company a dime more than you absolutely have to.

UPDATE 4/5/23: Do you like random power outages just because it rains? Would you like it more if you had just restocked your fridge after multiple days without power, only to eat dinner and then lose power again? That’s what you get with Southwest.

Good luck using autopay to pay your bills. This is twice now they have messed up my payment, and then they cut off my power because there was a problem on their end. If you're stuck using this useless company, take some time and go pay in person. There's a slightly smaller chance they won't screw you over.

These people are crooks. Bill has continued to go up. Half of my appliances(including ac unit)went unfortunately the previous month but my bill still went up some how. Then we were also on vacation for a week and still it’s continuing to almost double every other month. Another monopoly company taking advantage of people in the city. Called in the lady that answered the phone was a short and snippy. I don’t understand how my bill doubles every other month. I normally just pay the bill but this is outrageous.

Horrible electric company. My bill has been incredibly high in the past two months, a 45 percent increase compared to the same two months last year. This for-profit company is taking advantage of people in the middle of a pandemic. If I had any other option, I would choose a different company.

TL;DR: The app lies about how much you need to pay and the customer service is much less than stellar.

Edit: I finally got a call back from the company and they explained the extra charge (to bring my balance up to $35, which the app did not clarify.) Apparently, that will only show up on the website, which I do not use. I still stand by my customer service statement for the treatment yesterday (and such a quick hangup today that I didn't even get to finish a 'Have a nice day.') but I appreciate that the charge was explained fully and without the condescending tone from the representative I spoke to. I do believe they should implement this in the app and will be providing a review on the app store as well. I am raising my rating for this location however due to the return call and helpful clarification.

I generally find my flexpay an easy to use option, however my alerts got turned off without my realizing it and due to outside emergencies I didn't think about it. I woke up this morning with the electric cut off, and of course immediately went to pay to reinstate service. The app gave me the amount I needed, telling me that the amount included all reinstatement fees, plus the amount to bring my account current. Presumably, all I would need to pay. I gave it a little extra, leaving me with $20 in credit, but still my electricity wasn't back on after an hour. I called the Atoka location and when the representative answered was informed (in the most condescending tone) that I still needed to pay $14 despite the app's calculation of all my fees AND my extra credit. (I needed to pay a little less than $40, I paid $60. even if the $14 weren't included shouldn't that have covered it?) When I asked where to make a complaint, I was sent to someone's voicemail without even a word as to whether I was being transferred to a department or anything like that. Just a question from me and then suddenly, voicemail. The customer service is pretty appalling IMO. I work customer service; this is not how you treat customers.

I do realize and acknowledge it was my fault for allowing the electric to get turned off-- no complaints there. My bad. But I still deserve the basic human respect as everyone else should receive. I wasn't cussing anyone out or yelling, I simply asked as politely as possible how long it should take to have service restored.

The absolute worst customer service ever!!! I called the automated phone number to pay my bill and the system was down so i decided to call the actual office to try to pay it. (It was going to be cut off if I didn't pay within 24 hours) The lady who answered was named Julie. She told me yes the system is down so i can't pay using the automated system. She then said I could not pay them over the phone at all and that I would either have to come physically pay in person (which is impossible for me because I work in downtown memphis and they close before I get off work) or pay online. So, I got online and tried to pay that way. It was asking me to set up an online account and I needed more account info to do it. I had to call back to get my account info and Julie answered again. I asked her my question and she said hang on a minute and put me on hold for a few minutes. Then, she came back and said how can I help you? I asked my question again (I needed my meter number). She said you cant set up yourself online, we have to do it. I then said well you just told me I could pay online and I am on the website right now and it is letting me, all i need is my meter number. she then said I shouldnt need my meter number, just my account number. I explained that it would not let me do anything until I entered a meter number and she continued to argue with me. She finally gave me my meter number quickly and i missed a digit so I asked her to repeat it. then she said hold on and put me on hold again before i could even say anything!!! How rude! She came back and said it very fast again but i got it this time. then, that didn't even work. The website was down too!!!! So, now I am left with absolutely no way of paying my bill because their systems are down! They are saying they will still cut it off in the morning if i don't get it paid. How is that fair?!? I am trying to pay them and i can't!! I am considering switching services to somewhere else because this is down right ridiculous!!!! Julie, you should be ashamed of yourself! You just lost a customer all because of your rude attitude and unwillingness to help me pay my bill! GOOD RIDDANCE!

Any electric company that forces $440+ downpayment to start service is trash! I called to request the deposit back after the 1yr mark and immediately following my bill climbed to $172. They refused to pay back the deposit and jacked my bill up. My bill was never higher than $90 at the peak of summer 2017. I called and told them about it and the lady just coughs into the phone and says it’s due to the hot weather. Problem: I keep A/c at 84 degrees in summer and 64 in the winter, the AC very rarely kicks on.. I called to figure this out and get a resolution they just cough into the phone and say ohh maybe the house being 84 degrees causes the refrigerator to kick on more often. What a joke! These people are corrupt thieves!
