First time here....its located in a nice beautiful place. You almost forget how powerful water can be ?

This place is a good spot for a drive. This power generating plant is impressive. The water comes down from three huge pipes rising up behind the power plant. Along side the pipes is a small gauge rail track. I started up that rail line, but quickly stopped as it was very steep. In my younger days I might have made it further up.
When one considers the road up to Big Creek from Huntington Lake, one cannot help but be awed by the engineering involved in getting the water to the powerhouse, and in building this powerhouse. At the time of its construction, they did not have all of the modern equipment that we do today. If you're looking for a great drive and don't mind a bit of narrow winding road, it's a fun place to visit. Be aware that there are no service stations, restaurants, and visitor facilities in the area, other than a small grocery store in Big Creek.
