Paid my bill like I do every month in person with cash before the bill is due and now I'm suddenly behind a month bc some young girl didn't post my payment. I can't stand this electric company. They won't let me write a check and they charge 3% tax online. I still paid it and they didn't post my payment! That's an issue. I will not pay twice for a bill that I already paid once!

Payment due is 2 weeks after payment notice has been shipped. Any delays result in a 10% penalty. No other business operates on a net14 day pay schedule with a 10% penalty if being one day over. Their business practices are why energy companies need competition to avoid price gauging and fair business practices.

Just got my bill. $46.00 for fuel cost adjustment, $46.00 for environmental surcharge. With all "fees" totaling over $125.00, on top of our actual energy usage. I'm ready to cut my power off. Absolutely ridiculous to charge us over another hundred bucks. With all their negative reviews, you'd think they'd care about the people that are paying them so much of their hard earned dollars each month. It's a shame we don't have a choice of companies.
They completely screw everyone.

Not happy with the app or my final bill. I recently moved out of my apartment back to Illinois. I updated my contact information in the app including billing. Everytime I log back into the app it has the wrong street number even though I have changed it multiple times.

I also received my final bill (via email) and it says I have a past due amount of 74.22 for bill sent on November 30th with a due dateDecember 15th. It's December 9th. How the hell is my bill past due if it is not due for 6 more days?

As if your price gouging electricity cost steadily increasing isn’t enough to put us into poverty to the point where we go without food so we can have electricity, now we’re setting here on Christmas without electric for over 2 hours. Can’t cook dinner for my family or anything! Shelby energy is sad all around, period. Even sent a letter threatening to discontinue my electricity if I didn’t update my phone numbers with them. Disgusting company.

Crooked company. Their online payment messes up and charges you for it. Bank says payment request was never received. I verified info was correct. Contacted Shelby Energy and they say nothing they can do. Customer owned company? Yeah right. No wonder they keep their lobby closed. Used to be a great company.

Well lets see. I purchased a home in their service area in October. I have over a 700 credit score. They told me I needed to put down a deposit of 500 dollars in order to do a normal monthly payment rather than the prepaid plan because of my credit... So now because their email didnt notify me to pay on the prepaid bill in time my family is sitting in a freezing house on a 28 degree day. Bill has been paid and power has been down for several hours. I've called and all they can tell me is its automated so it will come back on when it comes back on. Please explain how a home owner with good fico scores has to pay a 500 dollar deposit in order to get a normal monthly bill rather than a prepaid electric bill or how they are automating something as critical as electricity for re-connect. Make it make sense. If you are thinking about purchasing or renting a home in their service area think twice.

Almost every company out there gives a grace period (even if it's a small one) because they understand the way paychecks work. Not every paycheck falls the same and life happens. Even 3 days would be respectful to your clients. Also, $114 in the summer. Please, it use to be no more than $70 and I just got a new unit this year.
