Beware, when you sign up for Scana; they do not warn or tell you upfront that you’re agreement is only locked in for 2 years and even when opt for Paperless statements, they will NOT notify you via email as requested when your two year contract is up. Then, they will begin (without notice) charging you the premium price, for context, I usually pay on the high end $200, they have been charging me $797 for the past two past months and I when I found out after month 1, I was forced to stay in the agreement by their representative because they already came and read the meter. This is by far the worst scam of a company I’ve ever come across in 20+ years. They should be ashamed stealing $400+ from hard working families who had no idea. We will be switching in a few months even with the new adjusted rates and encourage you all to do the same.

After YEARS of being a loyal customer, never missing a payment, they jacked my rates up 3x because "a promotion I signed up for expired" and they made zero attempt to contact me. They, did however, have no issue charging me hundreds of dollars extra in power bills. When they told me they would fix the situation, they didn't. I tried to follow up, and they assured me that there was nothing they could do "once the payment had already processed" even though the mistake was theirs.

Customer service is completely dead, and total joke companies like Scana are leading the charge. Do better - because this is disgusting.

UPDATE - RESPONSE TO @SCANA:
LOL. You guys send a single letter (with no differentiation from all the junk mail you spam customers with). This isn't 1985 - you have email and text capabilities - use them. We both know you are trying to "notify" people in the most subtle possible way to avoid them receiving the information and doing something about it before you start price gouging them. I don't care about your empty platitudes, I care about ethical business practice - which you don't engage in. If you want to actually make it right, reach out. Otherwise, I can't wait to move out of your market...

I have worked with this company for about 6 years now and it has been a complete nightmare. I have been over charged hundreds, if not thousands of dollars because they drop my fixed rates at strange times, do no appropriately notify me when my rates drop, or do not actually apply the fixed rate when I call. When I call in to correct them, they do not retroactively apply the rates I should have had to begin with. Use this company if you want to pay double for your gas services. I gave them two stars because their customer service over the phone was actually really good.

Had an annoyance with my bill where our plan ended and we received no notification that our pre-therm rate was going to go through the roof. I spoke with Johnny on their customer service line and he was extremely helpful and was able to assist with a slight cost adjustment to offset the surprising rise in my bill. Very helpful, respectful, and quick to resolve my issue. I'd give Johnny a 5-star rating, but the surprising bill change is why I'm giving Scana 4 stars. Thanks Johnny!

I really love having Scanna as a provider. They send multiple forms of communication if you are in danger of being disconnected-including calling, emailing, and text messaging (if you opt in). There has been a couple of times that I’ve forgotten to pay my bill and if I hadn’t have been notified, I would’ve lost service, so you guys taking that extra 2-3 steps to remind me really means a lot. Customer service is also always super helpful and polite anytime I call.

I had no heat or hot water because I missed one payment.(due to credit card number had changed) I owed for two months. They cut off my gas. They emailed me but did not call or text - even though they text me that bill due. Also sent a letter. I was on a trip for 3 weeks so didn’t see mail. My bad that I didn’t read email HOWEVER, I called and paid on a Sat morning, they came out on Thursday. It is Christmas holiday, but 5 whole days?! My house was 50 degrees, 40s at night. No hot water, no stove top cooking. I also had to pay a $150 temporary deposit for 6 months since I am now untrustworthy to pay. I have been a customer for about 15 years without missed payments. Won’t be one much longer.

If at all possible, please avoid doing business with this company. My bill for one month's service tripled, without warning. I called their customer service line, was told my "fixed rate" had expired, and notification had been sent to me by email and mail. I hadn't received any notification of any kind of such an occurance. At that time, I agreed to
their "fixed rate". One month later, I received another outrageously high bill. Again, I called. I was told I had received notice of the end of a "fixed rate". I told the individual who answered the phone I had enrolled in their fixed rate one month prior. They had no record of my enrollment in their fixed rate. I have now, for the second time in two months, enrolled in their rate program.
This one example of a dozen negative experiences with the billing from this company in just over a year.
Again: please avoid these unorganized, deceptive crooks.

Our home residential gas was cut off without warning as well, similar to all these other horror stories. SCANA claimed they had warned us via email that this would occur. No email was received. And our full balance had already been paid 6 weeks earlier but they still terminated our service. SCANA is not a professional operation.
