REI What’s not to like about this store except it will perhaps take a few hours of your time as you search for something exciting to wear & look at everything like I do. Love the new items and huge variety this store has to offer. So colorful with a wide variety of clothing, camping, tents, backpacks, blankets, camp accessories, boots, coats, winter gear. They are now the lifestyle company for campers and more. Friendly staff who are knowledgeable about what they sell.

The actual stock in the store is much smaller compared to what is listed on their website. If you are certain about the size or your purchase, it's best to place a store pickup order 1–2 weeks in advance. Also, considering the complicated local traffic conditions and the cost of Uber or taxis, you should carefully think about the best time to visit. A plus is that it is located very close to backcountry, a similar type of store.

I was used to the smaller REI on Halsted… and then came this much larger one along the river…

Great layout & very well designed store.

I’ve always enjoy going to this location, even just for browsing sometimes!!

REI has always been my two ghost store for outdoor gear and clothing.

I highly recommend if you’re an outdoor and an adventure enthusiast then you should join the REI co-op program …

You can never go wrong with shopping at REI

Be sure to check out their garage sales, they are incredible and sometimes you can find amazing products & deals… but come early morning when the garage sale starts otherwise the good products will be gone in an hour or less sometimes!!!

I love the fact that they have kayak rentals and the reverse just a “hop skip and jump” from the store…

Got my very first Brompton! Thanks to the very nice and friendly mechanic and secret salesman - Chris! I am able to look at the real bike instead of just pictures! A test ride is very helpful in making the decision. Chris also helps me install a Brook’s saddle to help me visualized which color I should get. Very satisfy with my visit and happy with my purchased!

Was just here with my dad, who needed a new pair of sunglasses. A male employee (Bailey? Shorter, young, Caucasian) was helping him for find a pair he liked. Turns out the sunglasses he wanted was the last pair in the store. These sunglasses were the display pair and the employee couldn’t find the case. Because of the inconvenience, the employee talked with his manager who agreed AND PUT IN WRITING they would allow him to get an extra 10% off on top of the 20% store discount promotion.

When we get to the register, two female employees assisted us, 1) Hannah with blond hair and bangs and 2) a female employee with long strawberry blond/ red hair.

The female employees, mainly Hannah, told us they would not give us the additional 10% off THAT WAS PROMISED to us. She said that the male employee “didn’t know what he was doing”. THEN, Hannah called the male employee (Bailey) down to the register and literally YELLED at him in front of us. We felt so bad for him. The red hair employee also Thanked Hannah in front of us for helping implying we were a “difficult situation”.

TL,DR: we were promised 10% off a pair of a pair of expensive display sunglasses without a case. The employee helping us got approval from his supervisor upstairs to give us 10% off the inconvenience. Hannah at the register refused to honor the 10%. Then she yelled at the male employee in front of us. Very embarrassing. The employee with red hair had a lot of attitude, seemed annoyed at us and later thanked Hannah in front of us for assisting because we were “difficult”.

On top of this, my dad has been a loyal customer for years who’s spend thousands at REI in his lifetime. As someone who’s worked in the customer service, if you promise a customer something, you can’t take it back.

These employees should be fired for how they treated my dad.

Used to enjoy coming here until I found out about the company Union busting and fighting against their own workers. I got my membership card and started my hiking experience with this place. It's a real shame to see what they are doing to not let their workers Unionize. You go to REI because the people there care and know things and then to see the company treat them with disrespect seems disingenuous to their ideals. I've decided not to go back until their so called care for workers reflects real actions.

Great place to shop for all sports. Good value, the store is organized, easy to shop and the service is amazing. All sellers on the floor are looking to support guide and help customers. Had a great experience!
