This has been one of the most disappointing investments in our home. We started this process a year ago. We signed the deal in February of 2024. We were told it would be about 3 weeks and they would be installed. We didnât hear anything for months but was told in May they would be out. They never showed on the original day we were told. The next day they show up and get started on May 28th. The electrician spent the entire day here and the solar panels werenât completed on day one. We were told they would be out the next day to complete the set up and turn on the panels. They did not show. It was a couple of weeks and three failed inspections from the city, later they said we were good to go. This was the end of June. We noticed at this time the back half of our home had zero power, nothing changed except the installation of the solar panels. After two weeks the electrician came out and found out that the entire breaker box was missing a breaker that controlled the back of our homes power!!!
Upon completion of the deal, we were told we had a 90 day time frame where we wouldnât be paying black hills energy. During this time our solar panels would bank as much energy as possible and we would pay black hills after it had time to accumulate the solar energy. Our first payment to good leap (their choice in the financial bank) was due September 1st. We were told multiple times everything was finally ready and good to go. This was false. We paid black hills energy until October. we only found this out after speaking with Black Hills energy, they were never informed we had solar and the solar was never turned on. This also means thatâs all of the solar energy we were supposed to be banking from the whole summer was completely wasted!!!!
On November 17th we noticed our energy with our solar panels was down. We found that a few panels were no longer working or banking energy. This started the process for a warranty claim. Keep in mind these have only been up for 5 months and only working storing energy for about one month. We were told in December they would come out on January 16th to replace the solar panels. We waited all day, missed a day of work and they NEVER showed up. We called and left messages, and was finally informed that it looked like they didnât have everything by they needed to replace them. No call, no explanation and another day of waiting for call backs.
Last week, the third week of February, we were told they would be out on Monday morning at 9am. That they are replacing the defective panels. Again, I have waited around all morning for them to show, and no one has come to our home. My husband called 5 times before we received a call back and they informed us that some how, the appointment was changed to February 26th. We have multiple emails reminding us of our appointment this morning at 9am. This has been a long year and we have had issue after issue.
We were so excited to add this investment to our home and have been let down tremendously time and time again in such a short amount of time. We had many friends and family excited to hear about our solar panels to invest in these as well. Unfortunately because of our experience, it has deterred many of our friends and family from using this company. Because of our experience we hope that this deters you as well. Their customer service and for the price of this investment should be above and beyond but even more so when weâve been patient and understanding through this entire process. There is poor communication, no follow through and once they get them turned on you have defective panels that take months to get fixed as well. Completely disappointed with this entire process.
