One of the most expensive electric company. They charge 35$ for facility charge ? I was better living in California where I didn’t have to pay hefty electric bills. They are just taking advantage of being in monopoly, and looting customers.
I would suggest people to avoid living in Johnson County because of this greedy electric company.
They claim to be Non- Profit, which is just their way of getting away with looting customers. Well Done !!!

We've lived in JCREMC's service area for about a year and in that time we've had 4 outages on perfectly sunny days. Including right now. I understand not every outage is caused by a storm, but 4 in a year is excessive. Really unreliable service.

A little background for when they respond to this and try to justify me as a bad person. I lost a job and moved into another field of work. I have 8 children. I’ve had jcremc since I bought my house 8 years ago. They were great until I hit hard times. They took everything that ever happened over the 8 years I had them and threw it in my face like I was a horrible customer (2 disconnects that were under 10 minutes in 8 years). They are Horrible, and that’s intentionally capitalized. If they can screw you into a day by day contract they will. My options were: pay 1200, sign up for a day by day charge, or have my power shut off. I was literally pushed into signing a day by day contract. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever done. I wish I would have had the outrageous extra 600 dollars to just pay them. Now they have taken complete advantage of my poor luck and are getting 2x the amount of money they were getting before I lost a job and had to find another. On top of that they have you collared and make you look over your shoulder all day wondering if they are gonna cut your power. These “people” will take a poor economic situation and figure out how to profit off of it, at the expense of your family. Stay out of Johnson county if they use remc. There are a few other spots in Greenwood that don’t use them, check those out. These people will make your mortgage hard to pay. And they can comment and say I was a month behind, but when I offered to pay what I owed they said, “nope sorry. You have to pay the 600 dollar “deposit” because you had a disconnect (for under 10 minutes).” I’m getting with a member of a news organization because it seems like this is a pretty popular business practice for them. Also if you tell them you are recording they change how they talk to you. I figured that was a pretty cool note. Also side note: when I’m on regular charges we paid around 250-300 a month. I’m paying that every 2 weeks now. But no statements because, “they don’t do statements on the day to day charges.” 1/10 do not recommend.

Just WOW!!! Went to web site to ck my REMC "account" TWICE THIS WEEK..WONT LET ME IN SMDH!!!! I tried 3 times again today (Sat) !!! This has happened twice since I went to make a payment earlier in week...What the HELL YOU NEED TO FIX YOUR DAMN WEB SITE ASAP !!! THIS IS WRONG!! THINKING of calling attorney general about this.. Obviously your office girl doesn't know what she is doing.. I was told BY HER I had SIX days on account when I only had THREE?This place, REMC prepay, charges whatever they want to day to day..Even if we are NOT home using ANYTHING!!! There is NO WAY our bill should run as HIGH as it does. Our water heater, stove and furnace is gas..We wash maybe 2loads clothes a week(dryer).. Something is NOT right...Smh

Can I give negative stars? 3rd power outage in a month. Can't call to report it because your phone lines conveniently never work during said outages. What's today's excuse? It's a 60⁰ sunny day with no wind.

Worst Electric Company I have ever dealt with...Everyone of the BOARD Members need to get voted out and people that care about their community needs voted in...Make sure you guys make the next vote...Can't wait until I get rid of this scam of a company!

ZERO electricity use on my bill every month for a barn...but still charged nearly $50 a month for a "facility charge" since I "have a connection".

Another large company gouging customers wherever possible. This is what happens when you have no other utility options. The company knows it and takes advantage of it.

0/10 Stars. Do better Johnson County REMC.

I will start this out on a positive note.....the customer service representatives here are fine and they are not responsible for the electricity being SO expensive on a monthly basis. As REMC correctly points out, their rate per KWH is on par with other providers in the area.......BUT that does not matter at all given they charge an extra 50% of your bill for your usage for a Facility charge and Distribution charge. For example, my bill this past month was $98.22 for my usage......However, after they added $49.26 for Facility and Distribution charges....Well, you can do the math. I only post this review so people thinking of moving into the area can consider that they will, in all likely hood, being paying considerably more for their monthly electric bill and should consider that for their monthly budget. Again, this review is not to bad mouth the customer service representatives who work here, as I have not had any negative experiences with that aspect of the company.
