This is supposedly a member owned company of the sorts but you don’t feel like a member at all, especially at the Gainesville office.

Auto payment doesn’t work so easily and so you end up having to deal with their customer service folks. Those at the Gainesville location are a bit off. As if they are on top of some hill and you are not! The individual at the counter looked as if she didn’t believe me when I told her the auto payment did not work and they sent me nasty disconnection notices!

It’s more like a hierarchy than a so called member owned! Is this the way all utility companies work

Also their Certified Home Energy program for saving electricity is just a gimmick. They don’t seem to really do a thorough inspection of the house integrity or even the windows which can lead to great losses of heat!

EV charging:

I often use their ChargePoint EV DC charge station. It was a little expensive at 30 cent per kW! And its not fast at about 1Kw per minute, so plan to be sitting there while too! EVs are not practical especially when you factor the time it takes to charge! You ain’t saving the planet.

Jackson EMC says customers get a reduced rate but you need to get the code and put in the ChargePoint app! The rate is almost half so it’s a good deal. However the customer service folks at Jackson EMC office don’t know how to use the charging station or the app!

The maximum output is only 50 kW which is not really good at all when other companies have 3 times more at about the same cost without a discount.

If you use the Jackson EMC code, the cost is about 15 cents per kW. That’s a good price but it’s not super fast whatsoever. From 20 % to 80 % will take at least one hour.

However if you charge more than 1 hour, EMC has a 44 cents per min cost added to the electricity charges! It’s like a parking fees at NYC! That will add up extremely fast! That’s ridiculous since there are probably a handful of full of cars every month using this station! Come on it’s not located in NYC!

ChargePoint is really not good whatsoever!
Why? Slow and few.

Also, the cables are so heavy and short! I can’t imagine anyone who is physically challenged can charge an EV without help.

No shade so it’s incredibly hot during the summer and terrible to use in the rain! With EVs, you got to plan ahead regardless!

I love this company. Always friendly staff that actually answer the phone. I responded to a request the published regarding potential problematic tree limbs. Within a week they visited my home and approved them removing the tree. All done and beautiful job cleaning up.

Woke up on a Saturday morning with no power. Called the company and someone was out within a hour. Worked and got the electric up and running. Great. Then Sunday morning Woke up to the same problem. They were out again within the hour and stayed all day making sure the problem was fixed for sure this time. All this to say: Jackson's employees are wonderful. They listen and have the courtesy and concern. Thanking them is not enough for the peace of mind they've given me.

Jackson EMC electricity service has been extremely reliable. We are pleased that we can purchase solar power through Jackson EMC. The company is very integrated into the community with public service projects and scholarships. We are impressed that Jackson EMC is such a community-oriented business.

Getting started was very easy. Pay as you go is super nice. However I live in a 700 sqft single wide. We have central air, no window units. We don’t have any tvs. No microwave. No dishwasher. Wash our clothes on cold. And are barely home to have the lights on. Windows are kept covered. Only 2 people live here so showers are minimal. Why is our bill $5 DAILY? That’s $155 a month. That’s the average bill for 3 bed 5 person household. With all the appliances. I can’t imagine what it would cost if we had the luxury of a dryer and dishwasher. Extremely frustrating, and I honestly just can’t wrap my head around it.

I wanted to show some appreciation to the two gentleman who came out to the 800 block of Martin's Ford this afternoon. It was maybe 30 minutes to 45 minutes (tops) from the call to arrival (lady on phone was great as well)! The wind had thrown a trampoline into the line and it lost its tension from the yard to the road. They were quick, efficient, and clearly knew what they were doing. Offered them a beer...but they didn't accept lol. Appreciate it very much guys, it's a hard job, but ya'll made it look easy.

The price for power keeps going up while service goes down. The amount of outages keeps going up year after year and the length of the outages keeps going up too. They never give any updates on progress on their App. I'm just going to start calling them every 30 minutes until they actually do something.
