I can’t say that I’m too happy disappointed somewhat full. Some of the items had authentic Puerto Rican taste some didn’t meat the criteria I know it’s very difficult to find authentic Puerto Rican, restaurants or places to eat so when we do it, it has to be done right you have to have Puerto Ricans in the kitchen. You have to have the flavoring all set up and your portions have to match very disappointed with my race portion with the combo plates. It was like a kids portion of rice and I had the rice with pigeon peas flavor. It was there portion very disappointed a little little dry as far as the yellow rice by itself with the beans on the side beans were not at all good total was about $60 that I spent empanadas that I had beef, chicken and shrimp also spicy beef all mediocre the roasted pork grape flavor no complaints portion on that excellent but you need to do better with your race portion. It doesn’t go and you need to have white rice as an option as a suggestion.

I wasnt ware that a place so good were in my neck of the woods
so i recently tried the island-inspired Cuban sandwiches at "Island Empanadas," located in Ronkonkoma and they were absolutely delightful! The extra cheese and sweet plantains added a perfect touch. I highly recommend anyone to come and savor these delicious flavors.

These empanadas are so delicious. We got the philly cheese steak, chicken and cheese, beef and cheese flavors. They were all good. It's a good spot for a quick take out lunch. Lots of parking.

The store closes at 9pm. I walked in at 8:48. The man taking the order was nice and said it's cool it only takes 5 minutes to cook but need to pay with card because the register was already counted. I said already. It's not 9pm. What if I only had cash? He said its 12 to 9 and "that would be unfortunate." I got my son his empanadas because it was "unfortunate" that he really wanted them but I really didn't want to spend my money there because of that comment. If you close at 9pm, I should be able to pay with cash or card up until 9pm. I've managed restaurants for 20 years. It's not hard to correct the cash count adding additional money. There are plenty of other places to go for empanada. I won't be back there 🤷‍♀️

the girl didn't get my order right but once i got my food it was so delicious. love the music they play and the mural on the wall is beautiful. feels like puerto rico without having to leave ny.

Island Empanada is my absolute go-to empanada place. They have a lot of good deals and I've never had a bad experience with them. The staff is always super friendly, too.

Usually this place is good but today not so much.. The 2 ladies that were working didn't seem thrilled to be there even though it was only 7:30pm. My empanadas were over cooked and took about 10 mins. They are crunchy on the outside. It was blackened and crispy. Not how the food normally comes out. (As seeen in the picture) Guess this is a sign to order earlier in the day. Food is normally much better than this. I ordered 4 and they all looked like the one in the picture.

When eating out or in, consideration, a smile and good service can make the biggest difference in how you enjoy the food.. the gentleman today made sure our plantains were hot and fresh and explained it would be a little wait and treated us very nicely. The food was tasty and we enjoyed the meal!!
