So, I'm enrolled in the apprenticeship program since 3 years ago and I can tell you that it's worth it...
Teachers work with you throughout the lessons, they stayed with you after class to make sure you get it right and everything is clear.
Lab is pretty equipped, organized, clean and has enough space to work comfortably.
If you work for an Electrical Contractor and they give you the opportunity to get into this program, don't hesitate to do so, you'll learn a lot, you don't have to pay but a tiny amount of it, the books are free (except for the NEC) and it's just once a week.

I will also make an observation about the cleanness of the restroom, that's something that they can and need to improve.

Attended the Journeyman Prep class here and was thoroughly impressed. It's your typical continuing education facility inside and out, but my instructor Stan kept the whole class engaged and laughing which made the class very enjoyable and easy to digest. He would definitely stop and explain things in more detail too if someone wasn't with the rest of the class on a particular topic. I will definitely be back in a couple years to prep for my master exam.

Great school. Teaches in-depth on everything an Electrician should know from fundamentals of Ohm's Law and theory to actual hands on applications with real world equipment in the lab. Excellent base to start a career into the trade whether on the Job or in the Office.

I have been the Senior Instructor for the Dallas IEC for over thirty years, having taught the first year apprentice program as well as the master electrician exam prep course. My students have given me great reviews, and I can count the number of complaints from students on one hand. I was recently sent an email telling me that "my services are no longer needed". Period. No explanation. When I emailed Jerry Thomas, our Executive Director, he replied, and I quote, "I do not owe you an explanation, and I refuse to discuss the matter with you any further." If this is how the Dallas IEC treats an instructor after over thirty years of faithful service, I would think twice before signing up as a student.

Great community of contractors and electricians. The school is a valuable resource to young people wanting to educate themselves in this field. Events are great networking opportunity's and include ball games, golf tournaments and fun gatherings. So if your a future student contractor or vendor I highly suggest you check this place out.

I go there for a continuing education class as required by T.D.L.R.
They offer an apprenticeship training programs, in English as well as Spanish-language, for those interested in the electrical trade.
As a master electrician with over 4 decades of experience, I highly recommend this investment into one's self

Excellent apprenticeship program for someone who wants to start a career in the electrical trade. It also has continuing education courses for electricians to renew their licenses every year and prep courses to take the journeyman or master electrician state test.

Careful with what company they put you with. I got sent to Able electric where that company was trying to send me to a job site that was 2 hours away at $13hr I tried explaining that it wasn’t worth it but IEC didn’t care the lady said I either go or get kicked out of the program. So much for looking out for veterans...
