I’ve been shopping here for over 10 years and highly recommend Himalayan Bazaar. It’s always a pleasure to stop by for Indian spices, produce, pulses and definitely for Indian snacks. Their staff is very friendly and a pleasure to chat with. During my last visit, Madan recommended some of their newly received biscuits and recommend them for anyone simply looking for Indian biscuits to have by themselves or paired with chai.

As visitors from India, we had the pleasure of shopping at Himalaya Bazar in El Cajon, La Mesa, and we can't recommend this store enough! We found everything we wanted, making us feel right at home, even though we are far away from India—no worries, it's just like being there!

Our experience was made truly exceptional thanks to Mr. Madan, who provided outstanding service. From the moment we walked in, he greeted us with a warm smile and was incredibly prompt in assisting us. His kind and helpful nature made our visit memorable, and we truly appreciated his gestures of kindness throughout our shopping experience.

Best Indian and Himalayan food in San Diego county. You are greeted by a humble waiting area that then opens up into a warm, cozy ambience. They have a great vegetarian section and they can make things extra spicy if that is your preference. The staff is always very pleasant.

Twice I went to the grocery store and they had expired food in the freezer. I told the guy in the front the first time to give them a heads up so others don’t buy and they have a chance to remove it. Months later I went back same exact thing. Expired food, dirty store dusted store like it’s the 80s, poorly organized. For the over priced Indian “curry” or any other south Asian grocery you better off driving a little further to Miramar or Powey and have better quality, clean and fresh Indian stuff. Coming from an Indian who knows the actual material unlike the reviews from folks who are not from that part of the world and get fooled by this poor representation, expired, stale stuff imported months and years ago.
However the restaurant next door is pretty good. This review is only for the grocery store to be clear.

This is a great, little store and is well stocked. The cashier I think doesn’t speak English because he just stared but didn’t answer me when I asked him a question.
