I've been a member at equinox for years, prior to the pandemic and I rejoined a year after the pandemic. I once thought that when you joined a local gym that they would care about you and your well being. After an incident outside the gym with another member of the gym which resulted in damage to my property and verbal assault, I voiced my concern that the other member was a threat to my safety and shared that I had to go to the police and file a report. They gave me the run around and said only if an incident in the club can result in any action to help with my safety can be done on their part. I will be leaving equinox with a very bad taste in my mouth. If you want a gym that cares about you and your safety or just well being, join another gym.

In regard to equipment and overall quality, I was fairly happy with the gym outside of limited business hours and so many members that the equipment was never available (especially if you work a 9-5 and go in before 8a or after 5p). DO NOT trust or sign up with Jan, he is highly unprofessional and will ghost you the moment your credit card hits auto bill. He dodged my emails for 2 weeks when I tried to cancel, I had to eventually call in and find someone else who would allow me to cancel without the obvious gimmicks. If you have the budget for a luxury gym don’t waste your money here.

Today marks the sixth day this month that I have had to leave the gym several seconds after walking in because there are no machines available whatsoever.

I understand that there are rush hours for every gym however, it has gotten simply out of hand at the Equinox gyms in Los Angeles especially the one in Hollywood. Multiple trainers are taking on clients during rush hour and holding multiple machines at the time per client. This practice doesn’t make any sense and it shouldn’t be allowed. Today I was making my way towards the only open machine and I was cut off by a trainer who was literally running to get there before I could. I have also gone up to seemingly empty machines only to have a trainer tell me it was one of several bring reserved for their client’s workout. The trainer proceeded to leave said machine unoccupied for 20 minutes — longer than I would have needed it.

I joined equinox for the promised amenities — one of which was limited capacity. This clearly is a promise that they have failed to uphold. They care more about commissions for new contracts than the fact that this gym is overrun.

Not only are you wasting my money; you’re wasting my time.

Sorry but I have to agree with the other user. The gym is just too full and all the machines are often occupied. This could easily be solved by leaving the gym open 24/7 because then people could come outside of the rush hour. The gym itself is clean and offers a lot of training rooms. Nice.

I've been hitting up Equinox on Vine for the past six months, and while the community and vibe are top-notch, the gym itself feels like it's stuck in a time warp. The equipment is passable but far from cutting-edge, which is disappointing for a place with such a high reputation. The biggest gripe, though, is the hours. They shut down way too early, especially on weekends, which cramps my workout style. I see potential, but they need to modernize and extend their hours.

A couple of points before considering this gym: (1) Staff are oversaturated and always mindlessly walking around the gym. In addition, they only seem to give targeted assistance when walking around to those who they see to match their body types and level of endurance at this gym. (2) There seems to be a lot of traffic in terms of the maintenance team as it pertains to the men’s showers. Every time I go to take a shower, there is a man with a black shirt either mindlessly mopping, excessively refilling soap, or lingering around. (3) The bathrooms itself are disgusting by the time I go to the gym at night. Which is boggling considering there is an influx of staff walking around the bathrooms 25/8. Leave us alone!!! it’s creepy and overbearing

I chose Equinox on Vine for its reputation, but after checking out other options, I’m starting to reconsider. John Reed, for example, is a newer gym with state-of-the-art equipment and more flexible membership terms. No contract, just month-to-month, which is perfect for someone with a hectic schedule like mine. Even Gold’s Gym, though not as fancy, offers better value for money with comparable equipment. The hours at Equinox are also pretty limited, closing early on weekends, which isn’t ideal. John Reed is open till midnight... For the price, I expected more from Equinox.

Incredibly rude management with very deceptive business practices, one could even use the word 'fraudulent'.

I was worried about the stability of my job when I re-joined the gym several months ago, and the Membership Advisor promised me that if I lost my job and had to move, all I needed to do was submit an email to management in order to cancel. THIS IS A LIE. I've spent pushing $5k at this gym over the past 6 months (between membership, spa, personal training, and Earth Bar) - and they still are trying to fight me for more money, it is absolutely insane.

The personal trainers are average at best. 6 weeks, over $2k spent - hardly any results. My EquiFit assessments said that I actually REGRESSED. It's like the trainer didn't actually take any notes on my medical history or injuries, every week I had to remind her of them. The workouts she put me through were Equinox's generic app programming - SAVE YOURSELF $140/SESSION AND JUST DO THE WORKOUTS YOURSELF. I also developed severe shoulder pain, which has stopped since I discontinued working out with her. The trainer was constantly trying to sell me on more training, didn't alert me of cancelation fees, and continues to text me asking when I'm coming back in to work out with her (kind of rude when you know someone has lost a job and money is tight).

Their app is crap - they don't even upload your EquiFit data into it. I've had 2 EquiFit assessments - none of the data is accessible.

Everything else in the other reviews is true - it is almost impossible to find a spot in the parking lot after work, crap towels, shower and sauna smell moldy, spa service is truly hit or miss (BTW - if you have an appointment scheduled at the spa with a particular individual, they will not notify you if they are switching the person on you. They act like they're doing you a favor for not charging you a cancellation fee if you don't want a strange masseuse touching your naked body).

The only great thing about this place is Buddy Macuha - the guy who leads sound baths on Wednesday night. He is truly magical, but not worth the $270/month membership.

Bottom line - go somewhere else - this place isn't worth the money.
