Great engineers! Energy Vanguard designed the HVAC system for our new home in Massachusetts back in 2014. The fee was reasonable, they were delightful to work with, and the resulting systems are fantastic for both comfort and low operating cost. When we had a quick question years later about replacing the outdoor AC unit with a heat pump, they were responsive and helpful.

I found Energy Vanguard's Blog through a google search. I loved what I read and how it was written. I wanted them to be in my area - Los Angeles. They're not - the people of Decatur, GA are the lucky ones. Nonetheless, I called them hoping for a kind person willing to share their knowledge without chance of financial gain. I spoke with Andy Bell; he helped work out all the options so many onsite workmen have been offering. I'm writing this review because Energy Vanguard deserves the 5-Stars, in my book. If I was in their service area - I'd have them fix my cooling issues. They paid it forward, know their stuff, and helped someone because they asked. These are the types of businesses that deserve to thrive.

From reviews I've read, it sounds like people are happy with their training but I wouldn't recommend hiring them to for consulting work regarding energy or HVAC design. I broke my own rule by giving a company a deposit (50%) for work not yet performed. After waiting over 4 weeks to even get a first draft of what they were contracted to do, it became immediately clear they were not proficient in an area that they assured us they were. After doing less than 5% of the proposed work (and that 5% was unusable) they refused to return any of the deposit. They seemed very knowledgeable in their field during our initial conversation, but if you plan to hire them for a complex project make sure they really do understand the scope of work, and don't ever give an upfront deposit! I've never given a negative review to anyone in my life, but it's upsetting to think that I was trusting enough to pay upfront and they were dishonest enough to keep money for work that was never done. Buyer Beware!
