I hate this power company. I love my home but the rates are ridiculously high with this stupid power company. 3 years of being with them and this is the worst thing ever. Alabama power I was with them for 12 years and never an issue. I wish it was someway around using them!

DO NOT BUY OR RENT A HOME IN THE RUCKER BLVD AREA. This power company is nothing but a money pit that does nothing but leech off of this community. 1 day late? Yeah that’s a late fee. 2 days late? They’re threatening disconnection. They give you exactly 7 days and half a million harassment calls in that 7 days and that’s all you get. Who cares if you fall on hard times? Surely not them. The late fees go straight to the pockets of the board if you read the fine print. A board with a president who ran uncontested and for some reason they still wanted us to vote on. Lol. With what options? This is single handedly the worst electric company out there. Boycott this area. Don’t move here. They’ll be forced to change their practices when there’s nobody to service. All they’re doing is taking advantage of the military location. Which is sad thinking about what all the military does for us. Do better Covington. I’d be ashamed if I were you.

This is absolutely 100% the worst electric company I've ever seen I came in
In person and signed up for a prepaid account with my brother and they are all to ignorant to find me in the computers and want to act like they can't do anything and don't get me started on buzz broadband it's been 4/5 months since signing up no wifi yet and they people refused a refund but I'm pretty Shure my bank will handle it since they want to refuse to do any kind of service they have been paid for do not use these people go anywhere else I should haven't

No problems with the staff or website, but never have I ever had my power turned off for being a few days past due. Would not accept a partial payment, couldn't do an extension, no payment plans... Bill had to paid in full plus a re-connection fee TODAY. Keep in mind our country is slowly recovering from the COVID19 pandemic and people out of work..

I know friend and family with Alabama Power that are 3-4 months behind and have plenty of help and options with that company. I wish I had known how different Covington ran their business before purchasing a house under their area. Would not recommend and cannot wait to move.

Covington Electric Cooperative is a horrible company with terrible customer service. I purchased my home in Enterprise Alabama in 2007 and found out after purchase that I did not have choice of power companies so I just sucked it up and went with them. Mistake. I should have sold the house and lived elsewhere. It is now 2016 I have been with them for 9 years and have been miserable with them since. Their rates are higher and their employees are horrible. Unfortunately the housing market collapse has prevented me from being able to sale my home so I am stuck with this horrible power company for now. I am posting this so if anyone is considering purchasing a home or property in Alabama please check to be sure it isn't covered by Covington electric cooperative. If it is beware. Just do your research and check before you buy. One day I will sale this home and I will not purchase a property that is covered by this company.

Covington Electric is, by far, the worst electric company we've ever used. They service a lot of military families and are incredibly rude. We moved from Alabama in March 2011 and never received a final bill. We have been extremely busy and completely forgot about it. Nine (9) months later we received a phone call from a credit collector for the final bill. After speaking with numerous people at Covington and even a supervisor, I was told it was OUR responsibility to call them for our final bill as they only send it out once. I was told they service "so many people it is impossible for us to keep track of bills paid and not paid". (Funny. We moved from Houston and they are able to keep track, but Covington can't keep track of a small area of lower Alabama?) If you do not receive it, too bad. The problem is, we never received it. The mail went to my husband's parent's house while we were in between addresses and they never received anything from Covington Electric. Covington says that is when WE should have contacted them. In my opinion, that is absurd. Nine months later, we receive a call from a collection agency. I pay the bill trough Covington and was told they would contact the collection agency. I should have known, though. Three (3) weeks later we receive another phone call from the collection agency wanting us to pay the bill. Rep says they have not been notified and we cannot talk to Covington because they are closed on Saturdays. Luckily, we have proof we paid.

Bottom line, if there is another electric company, USE THEM. If not, good luck. Poor customer service and despicable business practices. The entire area outside of Fort Rucker discriminates against military and you're better off on base.

Covington Electric overcharges it's customers so much. I dated someone that had a house almost twice the size of mine in the middle of nowhere with a swimming pool and she was with Alabama Power. Her bill was alot lower than mine was. I tried to change power companies but was told it was dictated by the city who gets what power. I would not recommend getting a home that has Covington as your power company.

I have existing account with them but I still have to drive to their Location to transfer Power for a new House. The lady sounded hung over and not woken up when I called , put me on hold just to tell me that. I called Alabama Power hoping they were in my area but were not. Power Bills are extremely High. They also told me I needed a purchase agreement after I drove all the way across town to turn it on in person. Guess the booze fueled hangover lady forgot to tell me on the phone
