I have read some of the reviews, bad & good. I'm a traveler & this store is way above average. In fact, I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Here is OUR truth.
Beautiful store and not just groceries. Clean bathroom, Kind staff (cashiers, deli, & meat). Great cheese and charcuterie area. Make your own salad area fairly clean but not a huge selection. It's still very good. Desserts great, but not huge selection. Love the atmosphere! Expensive, but anyone in their right mind would know that walking in. No surprises. Price equivalent to quality. They probably thought I was an OSHA inspector with my camera. 😂 Enjoy the pics.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting California Market, and I must say, it's a game-changer! This market is a one-stop-shop for all your culinary needs, offering a vast array of ready-to-eat foods, fresh sandwiches, premade burritos, a hot bar, a salad bar, and an impressive selection of organic fruits and veggies. But what truly sets California Market apart is its commitment to supporting local produce and artisanal goods.
But what really impressed me was the hot bar and salad bar. The hot bar offered a wide range of options, from fried chicken, chicken nuggets, corn dogs, and bbq pork. And the salad bar? It's like a symphony of colors and textures! From heirloom tomatoes to crispy kale, every ingredient was fresh and expertly prepared.
The market sources its fruits and veggies from local farmers whenever possible, which means you'll find an incredible selection of seasonal goodies that are often hard to find elsewhere. From heirloom apples to rare melons, every item was ripe and ready to eat.
Now, I will say that some prices can be a bit steep (especially on those harder-to-find items), but I understand that when you're working with small-batch producers and high-quality ingredients, sometimes that's just the cost of doing business.
Overall, California Market is like visiting a futuristic air-conditioned farmers market – think Whole Foods meets Sprouts meets Trader Joe's all rolled into one. It's a culinary wonderland that will satisfy even the most discerning palates. Whether you're stocking up for the week or just looking for a quick bite on-the-go, This spot is worth a visit.

Love this market! Any time we travel through Pismo on the 101, we have to stop. They have a great fresh deli counter, an impressive beer/wine/spirits section, and the types of things you would expect to find in Whole Foods, bur much better!

It is my ABSOLUTE pleasure to be a part of the Pismo Beach team, serving our amazing community. I attempt to make everyone’s shopping experience memorable. I bring my own personality to each day that I am on register by finding an item in store and featuring it as my checkstand pal, and posting it on my personal Facebook page

We stopped in this place to grab a few snacks for our weekend trip to pismo, and it turned into a field trip. This store has it all from hot foods ,specialty meats, and rare whiskeys and beer. The guy working the juice bar named Bryson was very friendly . We went back the next day and got some of the pre made tri tip and chile relleno burritos , fulfilling and only like 6 bucks .

Great place to get a quick bite to eat. Nice hot food section. The only disappointment is the fried chicken and wings. Always dry and overcooked. Salad bar, prepacked salads, sandwiches, burritos, ribs, ECT.

Some items that you might purchase day-to-day like bread, milk, eggs, and more are definitely priced higher than competitors.
However they have some of the best meat around. A large amount of the selection is American, Prime-Grade beef. They also carry Mary's Chicken and even the Heirloom variety.

Overall, pretty good, but also pricey!

There is something fundamentally wrong about putting bags of hyper expensive “innovative” candy at $6.99 per 3 oz bag ($37.28 per pound) on the end caps on one side and tequila and rum on barrels on the other side as you pass by or go to the meat counter. Yes, they gotta make their margins but like this? Do better.
