Spent $3k on a panel upgrade and EV charger install to get on the time of use plan, 3 months later I still don’t have the meter and therefore am not on time of use rate. Customer service is non-existent, call and just wait on hold forever even though it says 1 minute wait time. Multiple messages through the contact form, no response, if you actually get someone on the phone you get directed to leave a voicemail for the scheduling team and never get a call back.

Liberty Utilities absolutely sucks on ALL levels. THEY ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS !

The Californicate Pubic Utility Commission should cancel their permits and levy fines against this very fraudulent and unaccountable corporate criminal.

I am leaving a zero star review. This woman on the phone for customer service with my 83 year old mother was nothing short of disgusting. She would not even ansewr my mother's question of how to straighten up who's name was on the bill. My mother was in tears after she was hung up on just while asking what to do. Leaving my mother feeling like she was not worthy enough to call. I only wish we had caught her name. Disgusting. There is nothing delinquent on our account even. I am so sad over this. What a cruel human being.

Horrible customer service in terms of billing as well power goes out randomly for no reason! Clear days, no information, horrible response time! Way too expensive and unreliable!!! These companies with full monopolies need to be way more responsive and have much better customer service and support.

Please file a complaint about Liberty with the California Better Business Bureau, if the below summary of our experience with Liberty sounds familiar; as complaints from more people will hopefully force Liberty to change. Our experience with Liberty is as follows: The usage rate [i.e, kilowatt per hour] on our electric bill basically doubled, even though we're NOT using more devices NOR doing anything else that'd explain the dramatic increase.

When we called Liberty to try to find out why our usage rate and bills increased, and explained there was no logical reason for our usage rate to double [i.e., we're not using double the electrical devices], the Liberty representative rudely told us that our bill supposedly increased because Liberty increased its billing rate by 35% in our area [i.e., South Lake Tahoe]. Upon explaining the 35% price increase did NOT explain our usage rate increase, the Liberty rep. just kept repeating that there was a 35% billing rate increase for our area, and said an "energy audit" was the only thing Liberty could do about our usage increase; whereby the rep. said an "independent company" might come to our home for an "energy audit" to check our electrical outlets if the independent company thought an inspection was necessary. The Liberty rep. then said the only other thing Liberty could do about the usage increase was put us on a "payment plan" if we can't pay our bill.

After filling-out an "energy audit" form on Liberty's website, we then called Liberty back to demand that they take another meter reading [i.e., as numerous other families in our area told us Liberty routinely gets its meter readings wrong]. Upon calling back, another Liberty rep. proceeded to argue with us and treat us like we're idiots, by again repeatedly claiming the increase in our usage rate [of kilowatts per hr.] was allegedly caused by the increase in our billing rate [of 35%]; even though a cost / price / bill increase obviously does NOT create a usage increase.

It was like pulling teeth just to get Liberty to agree to check our meter again. Moreover, given the meter reading errors that we've heard about from other people in our area, it seems that error may be deliberate [i.e., do faulty meter readings, knowing most people either don't notice, or won't take the time to complain, while also knowing the worst case scenario is Liberty will just need to refund the over-billed amounts to those who notice and complain]. In sum, Liberty engages in shoddy business practices knowing consumers only have two choices: [1] pay whatever it demands; or, [2] go without electricity. Thus, please take the time to file complaints with Cal. regulatory agencies, like the Better Business Bureau, if you face similar problems in your dealings with Liberty.

People who give Liberty a bad rating, have never had a PG&E account. If Liberty customers were switched over to PG&E and paid their ( PG&E’s) horrendous tiered pricing and constant price increases, they’d understand how good they have things. ‍♂️

I have got the worst customer service from Liberty. The customer service manager hung up on me when I was polite and asked a simple question. She lacks common customer service skills and Liberty will not do a thing so she continues to treat people like trash.
