My solar has stopped working. Still under warranty unable to fix. I found out they are out of buisness. Any help well appreciated. $30,000 out the door

Design One did a great job with my solar installation. The conservation package and solar panels has significantly reduced my energy bill. Jeff did a great job with his presentation and explaining the solar panels and process of installation. But everyone needs to do their own research to be able to make a informed decision it is a long process and a learning curve in doing what you need to do as a home owner in reducing your energy usage also. For me after 7 months I love my solar panels and look forward to seeing the savings down the road because we all know that will only continue to go up. So if your interested in going solar give D1G a call.

Install of Solar system went well, installers were polite and got the job done quick. Edit, One year later and the install isn't complete. One of the installers come back and installed a bidirectional meter base, the company hasn't yet paid the local electric company the fee to install the bidirectional meter. On the app it shows with the amount of panels installed I'm still over 50% grid dependent. After multiple calls and emails we still haven't gotten any conclusion. Now the company is closed, no one will answer calls or emails. Do not recommend anyone use this company, they are crooks. the finance company Enfin is also in business with them and will not help with the situation.

Dealing with Design 1 has been frustrating at best. The contractors that have completed work at the house have been great. The staff at the design 1 office have been little to no help. When I call for updates (why am I the one calling for updates?) 4 out of 5 times I am told that they do not know and will call me back and do not call back. I have had multiple neighbors start a solar project after I did and I recommended them all to deal with anyone but Design1. If the company is this unorganized during install I am concerned about any issues afterwards. Here is my timeline for anyone considering this company:

2022
February- I signed the contract with Design 1 and was told install would be late April or early May
May- The roofers installed the roof
May 29th- The first monthly payment was due
June 28th- Solar panels were installed
July 13th - After I called AEP Design1 submitted the application to install panels
August 10th- Design 1 Installed a meter that was forgotten in June
August 24th- AEP still hasn’t received a correct application for solar install.
No one knows when I will actually be able to use the panels on my house.

They are a great group of people. Worked with us closely and answered all our questions and explained everything really well. The guys that came and did our installation were very good at thier job and very nice and polite. They had our installation done in a day. When they showed up it was raining and they went right to work as soon as it let up and didn't stop until the job was done. After it was done they went over the system with me and answered any questions I had. Really pleased with them.

Installation was quick and painless but I am not really seeing any difference in my bill. You really need the the battery system for it to be efficient because most people aren't home through the day to take advantage of the solar. So panels are working but not when I need them to. Tried to contact them and found out they where out of business. Terrible company. Would like to give 0 stars

Bobby gave a great no pressure presentation. He made me feel very comfortable. I loved the idea and decided to move forward. There have been a few bumps in the road, but they have resolved the issues in a timely manner. I got 14 panels, hot water heater, smart thermostat, and an attic upgrade. They just finished installing my solar panels and they look great! Super excited to start saving money. Thanks Bobby, Shannon, and Joe. Can't wait to meet the attic guys. 😆 They ain't going to be happy with the hole they have to crawl up in though. Ha!

We signed up with Design 1 for solar panels and an included attic encapsulation insulation package in May of 2022. We were told the first payment was in 90 days (true) and that they would more than likely have them installed by then or about then (not true). Once the payment had started and we had not heard from anyone, we started calling to check on installation. We finally got them installed in January of 2023 (8 months later) but have still not gotten the attic encapsulation and insulation that we are paying for. I have contacted several people several different times, usually never receiving a return call or email. One occasion when someone DID call me back, she said that the attic installation teams were having to be diverted to do solar panel installs due to the demand. So they are getting other folks' money for new solar installs, while putting folks like us on the back burner. I would recommend you do not use this company, and wish we had researched them before signing after a home presentation - lesson learned.

Still no return calls and no attic insulation package performed. Claim it is complimentary after charging about double the industry standard for panels. Offered 3 more panels because I was going to cancel install - wish to God I had. And despite claim, lady on phone told me attic crews were having to do solar installs so someone there is lying. Please do not use these folks and check on actual solar savings with your energy provider, Design 1 used very inaccurate figures with us.
