Convenience fee? It's the year 2025... This appears to be a scam out of Illinois... We in the South, totally trust Illinois based businesses to provide services without ripping us off. Sure we do. Chicago is a shining city on a hill. My bill is 3 times more than folks all around this service, just a mile away. Outstanding!

We know a lot of the businesses had some hard times during the pandemic, and we remember some of the problems you had too. We’re just thankful you were able to get our water cleaned up.

Their net cost is $12 per 1,000 gallons. About 6x the national average. So on 14,000 gallons they would charge $168 instead of 30. Extrapolated annually your cost is $2,018 instead of $360.

I’m not sure how that is within state regulations. I need to look into it.

This review wont really matter, because these utility companies have a monopoly, so they know the customers in their service area have no other option. But maybe it can and will at least sway others away from moving to NWUD’s service area. SO BE WARNED!!! Customer service has never given us an issue, but the issue is the fact that you never know when, or if you are ever gonna have water. We’ve had 3, Count them, 3 complete water outages within the last 3 months here. And on top of that, they are EXPENSIVE. If you want to live in a place where you can pay for, and actually HAVE basic human necessities, DO NOT MOVE TO NWUD’s service area!!! Or if you want to, come buy my house that I’m about to sell so I can get my family away from this absolutely horrible service area…. Again, customer service doesn’t matter to these people, because no matter how upset the customer base is, you have no other option anyway, so who cares if you have water right?

Worst Utility District I've ever delt with. They charge for using a debit/credit card so I pay by check. Well, they lost my check that was deposited in the overnight slot and shut off water without any notice. They are only open 8a - 4p so it's very difficult to speak with someone face to face unless you take time off work. They do not care for their customers and don't have to as there's no one else to compete with them. We should go to the County Commission to ask for another choice for water. Our community deserves so much better than this dictatorship of a utility district.

It's past the opening time for their office and no one answering the phones, so you have to drive to the office to speak to someone, this is the most unorganized, unprofessional utility company.

The few times I've had to call the customer service is decent. The folks are nice. However, the rates are insane and the service to the public is non existent. There are 3 people in our household and my bills are always crazy. When we moved in 4 years ago they were in the range of $70-100/mo. Now they are consistently between $110-145/mo. for water and sewer. Additionally, a few years back I had an issue with high water pressure coming into the house. And since have had all the pipes inside the house and from the house to the street replaced. Both times I called NWUD to see if there was an option to get any assistance with costs and have been consistently told they are only responsible for everything to the meter. Anything past the meter is my responsibility. Which begs the question, what is the insurance for? And I have friends all over Hamilton County who have max water bills of around $30-40/mo. Wish I had known about this when I bought my house.
