Small rooms you will be overcharged for. The hotel is trying to be cool so hard it is embarrassing for them. $45 to park in a lot that accepts no liability. $200 deposit when thee everything in the room wouldn't cost more then $100 to replace. Staff couldn't be bothered since front desk also doubles as the hotel bar.only one working elevator that was filled with drunk idiots every time I tried to use it. First room I was placed in had no ac. Second room had no TV. I am yet to see the discount the manager said he would give me. Disappointed and a bit pissed off. Find another spot if your considering staying at the Moxy Oakland. I will for sure not be back

One elevator out, apparently for months, and the other really slow. People were okay at checkout - helpful but not friendly. It was a fine stay. Right near where I needed to have meetings, so would return.

The person working the desk during our check in was wonderful. Great little rooms but the pillows are terrible, so bring your own if that's a thing for you. Ask for a room on the backside to get away from street noise.

Definitely trying very hard to be a funky hotel. Rooms were nice and clean but pretty small. Very loud outside late into the night and a bustling area. Staff was helpful and accommodating. I wouldn’t stay here alone or recommend young women stay alone.

Bar experience only! The drinks were the only highlight - strong and well made. But everything else fell flat. The vibes sucked, the music didn't match the setting, and the service was a bit lackluster. We had one drink and left, the overall experience didn't make me want to stay

Nice cozy place to stay if you last minute need to stay in downtown Oakland and would like to save a little. Rooms are modern but small (but has everything you need). Only inconvenience is the overnight parking—it’s across the street and they need to send someone over to manually open the gate for you to get your car out and when coming in you need to phone them so they can do the same.

Stayed here for a concert at the Fox Theater. Good location. Only problem was the motion sensor bathroom lights. Couldn't turn them off and the front desk had no idea how to help me. Lights were on all night. I won't ever go back to a property with motion sensor lights. Hate that they switch on in the middle of the night when you're trying to use the bathroom and get back to sleep.

I will state facts. The hotel had a water issue, and I was not notified before my arrival date. I found out from someone local. Each time I called to check on the issue, customer service was awkward at best. Nobody I spoke to said goodbye when hanging up, inform me they were putting me on hold, and really lacked basic customer service. I called again to cancel my reservation, and the person I spoke to said "ok. it's cancelled." and hung up. I had to call back a few days later for a cancellation confirmation and they gave me a confirmation number. I asked for a confirmation email (business purposes) and was put on hold for 40 minutes. No checking back in with me or anything. I won't comment on the rooms or the location as I didn't end up staying there. But as a person at my business that books hotels for staff often, I will not be booking or recommending Moxy.
