The worst utility company in the state of Vermont. Extremely rude customer service employees. If you ask for a supervisor they hang up or put you back at the beginning of the automated line. I just wanted to pay my bill and was hung up on twice by call center because they didn’t want to assist me and the bot line wasn’t working properly. You’ll send collections after me but refuse my payments. Utter nonsense.

I live in Manchester Vermont and was shocked by the number of power outages! The power goes out like a candle in a wind storm. This company has done little to improve things over the last 5 years. One look at their Google reviews and the truth is told, they respond to no one? Any heavy snow and the power goes out to thousands of people. Absolutely terrible infrastructure, like living in the Congo. Has anyone ever thought of burying the power lines? It's a matter of time before my pipes burst!

However, to be fair...

They did remove a fallen tree on power lines near my home, within 24 hours one time. So I rated two stars. Come on folks, bury the lines!

These guys are CROOKS! I called three times because my monthly payment was not coming out of my account. They kept saying it was a "glitch in the system." During this time I accrued a bill of about $700 (at the already insane cost of $200 a month). I agreed to pay $150 and then make monthly payments for the rest. GMP assured me this plan was all set up and then I wake up to a $700 charge on my bank account! Several phone calls later (including one where I was hung up on for no reason at all) I find out some clerk made a mistake. So now I get to go back and forth with GMP and my bank.
This company is run horribly! Side note - putting someone on hold for over 10 minutes is very poor customer service.
I'm moving to a state with de-regulated electric providers and never looking back! GMP is a joke!

Sent a final bill to the address I moved out of, and then referred it to a collection agency without any further contact. Said they called me one time, but I have no record of the call and they certainly did not leave a voicemail. Customer service took no accountability. Would rather impact someone's credit than just send an email or leave a voicemail.

Just made a phone call asking about help with my hot water heater. Seems like a mixing valve they installed when putting in a new tank is failing and I'm sending hot water back into the system. I was told they contract out for this and when I asked about a time line, or if there was any help for me if they couldn't make it here in a timely manor, it was explained to me that it was my fault for not calling when I realized there was an issue ( two days ago ). I called in a good mood and left angry. This should have been an easy call for the customer service rep and they made sure to turn it into a personal attack. Too bad GMP has a monopoly or I would have switched as I pay way too much to this company to be treated like this. If I could give it less than one star I would.

Just got off the phone with a GMP payment center. Lady is giving me attitude because she cannot do her job properly. It took GMP 5 calls to get our phone number and address correct. Get your act together GMP you deserve bad rating, to bad there is no substitute for your services.

I just called customer service and they were incredibly rude for no reason when I simply asked for my account number. I wish there was another electrical company in my town that I could support because I do not like supporting people that run their business so poorly.

Absolute scam of a company. Random charges, double Billings, constantly raising rates with no warning, and (of course) any time you try to fix an issue their website doesn’t work whatsoever and no one answers the phones. This company extorts its customers because it has a monopoly on energy utilities in the state. The heads of this company should be in prison or worse.
I’ve paid my bill on time every time for years and they still give me problems for absolutely no reason. It’s not just me either, all of their customers would agree. This company should be forced to dissolve and it’s remnants be controlled by the people.
