I don't understand the poor reviews as my experience with the people and service has been excellent. Unknown to me I had a toilet running. A rep rang my bell informing me of a leak and assisted me to determine it was inside - a toilet. He provided instructions to get my next water bill adjusted downward. On another occasion the company, at no charge, installed a new copper water service line from the street to my home, replacing a galvanized lead soldered line. They hired an engineering company and chose the highest rated plumber in the area to do the work: Richard Yard. The excavator cracked a large expensive slate slab adjacent to the new pipe. The slab provided the only relatively smooth entrance to my home - the surrounding area being heaved by time and tree roots. I offered to pay the cost of the slate if NJ American Water would truck it in and install it. I had signed an agreement to be responsible for any broken sidewalk in exchange for the free water line which was my responsibility to maintain or replace to begin with. NJ American Water sent the engineer to discuss what might be done. Next thing I discovered was NJ American, without my knowledge, purchased, trucked in, and installed a new slate. I know the cost of the slate alone approached $1,000, if even I could find one as large and thick as the one which cracked. I sent "thank you" notes to NJ American Water and the engineering company. Hence, my 5-star rating...

NJ American Water does not care at all about their customers! Beware..
They fixed a leaking water main in front of our house after taking out 5 of our prized plants attained over a 10 year period; and two mailboxes including our neighbors on our property, and when it was discovered that the leak was on their side, they proceeded to avoid rectifying the situation. We also asked them to put back the removed grass, dirt, and plants to our satisfaction; filing over 10 complaints to their dept; and all they did was have someone come over and place some rocky dirt, quick grass which has since died; and an added insult of a few loose rocks on the roadside; to placate us... they are like the Godfather; wish I knew someone who really was ; and could shake them down.. avoid this company like the plague.
