this co-op is more down-to-earth and less intimidating than the one in Park slope. I love the free two month membership. The staff I talk to was also very welcoming and helpful with helping me understand the membership. The overall produce offerings were not very comprehensive but a good amount. i’m surprised that they have a good amount of Asian ingredients at affordable prices. overall it’s pricey but some items were significantly cheaper than other grocery shops, so you really gotta pick and choose.

Fantastic community and a thorough selection of high quality groceries. You can ask for any product you want and the buying team will order it. I would recommend to anyone who lives nearby to become a member owner.

New incarnation of a this small local food coop. Great selection of fresh organic produce for such a small coop, and at reasonable prices. Seems to have renewed energy and enthusiasm with the reopening. Definitely worth checking out and maybe joining.

Love that they are open to the public on weekends and also have flexible work requirements to keep the barriers to entry as low as possible. I understand the member owner model is vital to staying open in NYC, so it means a lot they put so much effort into making it accessible. 🫶

Really lovely food coop and community of folks. Rotating seasonal produce (root veggies, fruit, greens), bread (including good gluten-free options), plenty of pantry items (broth, pasta, oils/vinegars, etc.), household items (paper towels, detergent, etc.), bulk goods (nuts, grains, coffee, tea, etc.), and perishables (meat, dairy, vegan, frozen foods, etc.). When you become a member, you put in a few hours per month to keep prices low and it's also a nice way to meet folks and learn how everything works.

I've been a member for about a year and half and been very glad for it. If you're not a member, just stop by and ask about joining (can always look around and do a trial membership to see whether it fits your needs). You can then just stick with shopping and putting in your occasional hours or always get more involved too as you get more comfortable -- e.g., helping decide what to buy, attending meetings, etc.

I have been a member of Greene Hill for seven years. I have watched the co-op grow over that time into a community resource with a wide variety of products. (I particularly love the dairy options and local produce!) It's an intentional, cooperative model so not your typical grocery store -- think of this as a community resource where decisions are made collectively on running the store, from operations to sourcing produce. It's a great way to connect in with the community.

Super clean and easy to shop flow to the store layout. Straightforward and not a million choices to make everybody crazy. Very good rotation of perishables makes me feel secure of the quality.
