First let me say that I am grateful that they were able to keep the water on after the hurricane. That being said, the way they handle billing and their quickness to shut off your water for a 30 day late bill without notice to get that reconnect fee really irks me. They don't have a paperless billing option, but they do have my email. Yet I get no communications from them. This is a Columbia county operation and I expect more from them, especially since I pay those wonderfully high property taxes. Please find a way to notify people who might have overlooked their bill prior to turning off water. And since it is an electronic valve, why does it take so long to turn back on?

My experience thus far has not been pleasant. I haven’t been getting my bills in the mail, and in 2025 there are no paperless options for notifications or payment reminders (how convenient) . They were quick to shut my service off to get a reconnection fee, but failed to send out any reminders & slow to come turn my service back on.

"I was employed at Columbia County Stormwater until my recent resignation. During a critical time when my wife experienced life-threatening complications after giving birth, I needed more than the allocated seven days off to care for her. Despite this urgent situation, my request for additional time was denied.

Furthermore, when seeking days off for essential medical treatment for a severe tooth infection, I was callously told by management that I did not require professional dental care and that they could handle it themselves with pliers and solder from inside their shop.

In addition to these concerning incidents, the behavior of the supervisor, Preston Walker, was deeply troubling. He openly expressed racist views, claiming that individuals of White and Asian descent possessed innate superior intelligence compared to black individuals. Additionally, he made derogatory comments about my Russian background, resorting to offensive and inappropriate language by referring to me as a 'mongol'.

During the time after my daughter's birth, when I attempted to share the joyous moment with Preston by asking to show him a picture of my newborn, his response was dismissive and insensitive, stating that newborns were 'nasty' and that he didn't want to see her, and revealing his personal choice not to hold his own child when they were born because "newborns are nasty".

The work environment at Columbia County Stormwater was further tainted by constant insults, derogatory nicknames, and unprofessional behavior directed towards me.

Based on these experiences, I strongly advise against considering employment at this organization. The lack of compassion, the presence of discriminatory behavior, and the dismissive attitude towards essential personal needs highlight significant issues within the company culture that need to be addressed promptly and effectively."

It’s frustrating that they cut off my water just weeks after the hurricane, citing an unpaid bill. While I understand that the bill was my responsibility, it’s still upsetting given that nobody was living in the house at the time. When the worker came to disconnect the service, I immediately offered to pay the full amount, including the cutoff fee, but he insisted he had to proceed. After all the damage I’ve already endured from the storm, their unwillingness to work with people during such a difficult time is disheartening. Their lack of compassion in the wake of a disaster is disappointing—they should be ashamed of how they’re treating those affected!

The last two months my water bill was a lot more than normal. I received a noticed on the door from Columbia county water services that I have a link. My husband looked into it and we realized we had a broken valve on the water heater. I called and reported the program to Keyway Property management. They were able to come by last week but could not fix the problem immediately. They have to order the parts. So we are having to keep the water heater off unless we are taking a shower. I called the water company to see if I will be reimburse for the amount that I paid over and she said she could not do that. Been with the company over 10 years. Never missed A payment. Always on time when an issue arise they are not able to reimburse me for over water usage .

Just for reference, the entire area looked like the top of the photo before Columbia County Water fixed a leak that was before our meter (closer to the street). CC water offered to put sod down when they were done. Then, when they came another day to fix the leak, they simply left sand at the bottom of our steep hill and this was a couple of days later. Not to mention, the next day there ended up being a leak just above the meter that we had to fix. They do not care about your property! Thanks a lot Columbia County Water!
UPDATE: After 2 weeks they now came and fixed it by laying sod!

Our renter moved in today only to find out there was no water, despite having it turned on in their names and being told that it was turned on. They went home and there was still no water. I then went by and found that the main is turned off with a padlock on it. The bill has never been paid late and we were assured it was on. Now it is after hours and the renter will be without water until AT LEAST tomorrow morning, assuming Columbia County water can get their act together. I've been paying for water usage but the water main has been turned off and locked..... How does that work?
