If I could give ZERO stars I WOULD! My electric and gas bill has always been no more than like 210 on average. We do not adjust the thermostat or anything. My gas bill has always been in the double digits and MAYBE 100 dollars max. Per Walton, The "snow" is the reason for my gas bill going from 65 dollars to 312!! This is just the gas bill alone. We never touched the thermostat. We doubled up on blankets and wore socks. They literally price gouged and blamed it on the snow and saying I was paying around that much previously. I have pulled up all of my bills and there is not one bill proving that the statement made by the representative is a fact! I am filing a complaint with BBB and looking into a lawyer and a lawsuit. They are getting over on everyone.

Shut it down. My service was off but I was still being charged. Prepaid service is a scam. Having your service audited is a joke. Im almost certain they use the same excuse for everybody as to why your bill is high. 'There's a leak in your air conditioner unit'. News flash I DONT USE THE AC. Walton EMC don't believe that someone is conserving energy.

I am extremely disappointed with Walton EMC and the poor treatment I received as a returning customer. I began services with them again in May 2024, choosing their monthly contract option instead of prepaid. I was upfront told by a representative that, because I had previously used their prepaid services for nearly three years and was in good standing, the typical $300 deposit would be waived. Trusting this, I decided to go ahead and get new services set up at my home in Snellville.

Fast forward to my first bill being due I got on a payment arrangement because the kilowatt-per-hour prices are outrageously high. However, to my surprise, Walton EMC cut off my power without warning in the middle of the afternoon. This was the first bill under my new services, and instead of giving me until the end of the business day to make the payment, they shut off my electricity around 2 or 3 p.m. without notice. When I called to ask why they hadn’t given me more time, they had no explanation and demanded I pay a $300 deposit, despite the fact I was previously told I wouldn’t be required to pay one.

This unexpected $300 deposit, tacked onto my bill, has put me in an impossible situation as a low-income, single parent of two children, trying to survive. I was relying on assistance to help manage my bills, but this deposit was never disclosed to me — not in any contract, nor in any of the conversations I had when setting up my service. Walton EMC lied, manipulated, and showed a complete lack of transparency.

Their treatment has been utterly disheartening. I had just come out of homelessness, trying to rebuild after months of struggle, and trusted Walton EMC based on my past experience with their prepaid services. Now, I’m finding myself in an even worse financial hole, largely because of their unprofessional behavior. When I called to discuss the issue, I was met with rude customer service — one representative even argued with me, a man arguing with a woman, no less — which was highly inappropriate and unprofessional.

I feel stuck, as they are one of the few utility options, and now I’m faced with a bill that I simply can’t pay, forcing me into homelessness again. Had I known they would do this, I would have never switched to a contract and stayed with prepaid.

To anyone considering Walton EMC, I urge you to be cautious. This company shows a blatant disregard for struggling families, and their lack of integrity, transparency, and professionalism is appalling. They will surprise you with hidden charges and offer no explanation. I’m deeply disappointed and regret ever going back to them.

Bad business practices lying 🤥 and cheating your customers 💯👩🏽‍💻I’m am just so DISAPPOINTED ☹️ that Walton emc followed the bad trend of cheating its customers!!! You know that old saying cheating never prospers !!! This is words I live by as a proud American 🇺🇸 citizen I’m so glad I don’t have to lie and deceive people in my business it really does make you look 👀 bad!!! Tell me it’s my fault that my bill is high I make the suggested changes and my bill is even HIGHER the next month!!! I won’t waste my precious energy in contacting this company anymore it’s obvious their business practices are profit over principle!!! I’m truly disgusted at the treatment I’ve been receiving from Walton emc as a company… Shame on you !!!

It’s literally two people me and my teenage daughter and my bill DOUBLED from last month and I haven’t cooked and didn’t do anything different!!! They are THIEVES and the customer service representatives are USELESS they don’t know anything so hopefully Walton corporate sees this review and can get this resolved cause calling there snellville office is a waste of time

I hate this company, I wish we could use Georgia power in Snellville. My family purchased a home in Snellville and was told Walton EMC would have to be our electric company. After getting them, I have not been able to get ahold of a live person. They charged me $500 which is ridiculous, and after being on hold for an hour I get hung up on. I’ve called multiple times and each time, I get no help. If there are other options for electricity in Snellville, choose them. Walton is a scam, a crook and just plain awful. I’m currently on hold for 30 min trying to reach out to them for the third time today alone. They are no help with bills, customer service reps suck and the rates are crazy. Save yourself some time, and don’t live where Walton EMC is required.

I have inquired several times about getting this transformer box cleaned outside of my new home. I sent these pictures and the latest response I have been given is that it's just a little debris and brick mortar. This is horrible looking and literally sits outside of my brand new townhome (completed in September 2021). Can anything be done about this?

Update as of 1/25/2022:
I was told after my last request that someone would come to paint the transformer box and Walton EMC delivered. I am appreciative to Mr. Lee Candler for making sure this action item was completed and done professionally. I have also posted pictures of the latest work. Thank you so much!!!

Update: Crews came next morning and drug the power cables from under the tree and reattached but didn’t even touch a power saw and left the tree under the power line and blocking the entire road. Horrible and pathetic.
Subdivision has been blocked with electrical lines down and multiple houses are trapped with now way out for over 13 hours. Had crews over in the next neighborhood but just left without any resolution. Maybe hundreds of subdivisions are blocked with no way out? I think not though. Just bad leadership and prioritization.
