This company is basically a scam incarnate. They sub-metered apartment buildings 20 years ago, and now charge all the tenets of said buildings 20+$ a month as a 'service fee' and the set up account and close down account 50$ fees. They survive by pitching themselves to landlords as a sub metering company that helps landlords avoid any water cost overrun between tenets (what little amount there might be) and a company that monitors water usage. They monitor water usage as much as the water company already does, they're impossible to contact, and their website is defunct. When landlords want to get rid of this company, they convince landlords not to by stating the one time cost to submeter isnt it worth it, and you know, all of their added 'services'. If your landlord uses community water your water bill will basically be double what it should be due to all the fees, though they provide no service whatsoever. There is a special place in hell for people who come up with companies like this.

Truly a horrible experience with Community Water, specifically with their customer service. I have had terrible experiences paying bills and using their outdated online platform. While waiting on a leak adjustment, I received threatening emails about turning my water off for months. I’ve had a particularly awful experience with Melinda, who was rude and completely unhelpful. Unfortunately, as others have echoed, I have to use Community since this is what my apartment uses. If you are deciding between apartments and one uses Community and the other does not, opt for the other!

As other reviewers have written, my roommates and I were charged with an exorbitantly high bill for a month we were not home. We talked with CWM, and we called out two plumbers to investigate any leaks. There were none. We contacted the company four times trying to speak with the manager. Over the course of three and a half months, the manager was consistently unavailable. When we did talk, we agreed on a price and payment plan that never took effect even after I called again to ensure it went through. We paid the bill to stop accruing late fees and calling to cancel them. The front desk staff is kind and wants to help, but they cannot be helpful without support from management. If I could switch water services, I would. Unfortunately, our landlord requires that we continue to use a service that charges too much and has customer service irregularities.

A very disappointing company.
Let’s be honest, it’s apparent this company is poor by the many other bad reviews, and if you’re stuck with them, I’m sorry. I lived at 215 China St in Athens from 2013 to May of 2016 as an Uga student. I loved my apartment but Community Water Management always sucked to work with. It was obviously more expensive and less reliable than comparable companies, but what are you going to do when it’s all you have? Fast forward to 2020 and I find out that there is an old bill from June or July of 2016, the month following the month I moved out. The same thing happened to me with Georgia Power. To a degree, it is my fault for not properly closing my accounts, for sure, but my landlord led me to believe they would do that for me. No worries, the bills are in my name, they are not an unreasonable amount. I contact Georgia Power, explain the situation, pay the bill, and they find a way to completely remove it from my credit history and it becomes a non issue. I attempted to do the same with CWM, I spoke to a person on the phone, they said they would work it out, I payed, and still the amount remains in collections against my name. Not a word back from Community Water Management. This company lives to use those who are forced to use them. Honestly, not deserving of one star. It’s a shame to see how some things never change.

Actually kind of the worst. Crazy high rates that dont make sense for a 2 bedroom apt. Took calling four times before i could reach someone, but atleast the person i spoke to was helpful and nice

I would give ZERO stars if I could. This business is a complete scam. All they do is collect the money (not actually issue a service) and then charge three times what the city does for water and trash. I needed trash cans replaced and they sent me on a wild goose chase to my landlord, the city water, and anyone else they could think of do it instead of taking responsibility. Over a week has gone by, still no trash cans. The owner is an incredibly rude, unprofessional bully. When I came to their building with my trash can complaint, the owner didn't even leave her office. She just barked orders to her receptionist and made threats like 'if they don't like it, they can cancel their contact' from the comfort of her office chair in the next room.
I can't wait until my lease is up and I'm free from Community Water (Mis)Management!! IF YOU'RE A PROPERTY OWNER, do everyone a favor and do not make a contract with these people. IF YOU'RE A TENANT, do not sign a lease in an apartment controlled by CWM. Honestly, you could get a more expensive apartment somewhere else with water from the city, and you'd still be getting a better deal!

These people are grossly incompetent and unprofessional. Every interaction I've with them has been frustrating and discourteous. When I've called them on the phone they're all talking over each other and talking over me and cannot clearly explain anything. Every email I've received they address me by my first name or not at all and hardly ever sign the email. I've told them many times that my billing address is not where I live. Common sense should tell you that I live at the address on the account, as it is a water company. I have never encountered a more disorganized and discombobulated local business. They poorly represent Athens as a whole and need serious help in organizing their business.

F this place. Terrible customer service with no professionalism whatsoever. Had to pay a $300+ water bill from a PREVIOUS TENANT before they would turn on service to my address. Refused to be convinced by indisputable evidence that I physically could not have used 12,000 gallons of water in one month. The fact that tenants in certain Clarke County residences are FORCED to employ this deplorable service should be investigated as collusion. No work is actually done, while they charge 3x normal water and sewage rates. Words cannot describe my hatred of this place, I am seething. If anyone knows how to enact change regarding this, please take action.
