My wife and I recently retired and moved to Rome, Ga. We were interested in the option of building a new home in the area. We visited the America’s Home Place at the Calhoun office. Our first meeting was with Melissa and expressed interest in the Timber Hill plan. We explained that we had just purchased a plot of land overlooking a mountain valley. We ended the first meeting, saying that we’d be looking at others builders in the area.
Approximately a week later, Melissa contacted us, reference the Timber Hill plan.
Melissa explained that she remembered us saying we had a mountain valley view. She related that she redesigned the Timber Hill plan by adding a 2nd floor balcony. Since we’re retired, Melissa at our request, eliminated the 3rd bedroom. Thus, turning the whole 2nd floor into our master bedroom and bath. Wow, someone finally listened to the client, and ran with it. With the 2nd floor now vaulted, we added traditional wooden beams on both 1st/2nd floors. We loved her new Timber Hill plan (design), and chose them as our builder.
We were assigned Drew as our project manager. He kept my wife updated throughout the whole construction process!
We heard from him EVERY week on the progress of our new home. Some times bi-weekly. If we had a concern during the build, he had an immediate answer for us.
We just received our Certificate of Occupancy (C.O.) this week!!!

Great customer service. We were looking at more than one custom and/or semi-custom home builder and AHP was one of the most accommodating to meet our needs. The staff at this location is amazing! They had so much great information and were so helpful even though we plan to build with a location in a different state. We have had a very positive experience with the AHP team at Calhoun - Melissa Clemens, Jolie Walraven and Todd Wilkerson. Their professionalism, patience and knowledge came across in our every interaction with them.

During the design process, Melissa gave us good advice and excellent alternative ideas. Jolie was very patient and guided us throughout the selection process. Todd answered all our questions patiently!

The construction of our house has just started but we can already see how his professional approach is going to make this process very smooth.
