We just went through a big storm in Texas. I didn't lose power but hundreds of thousands did including my son. I had my new battery charged up and my son used it to keep his refrigerator going. He got power back late Wednesday and I charged it back up. Now I've loaned it out to a friend who still doesn't have power (today is Friday) and she is trying to save her meat in a freezer and she also needs a C-pap machine to sleep. So glad I can help others during this difficult time.
All I can say is prepare for all the things coming at us these days. Project Solar has great customer service!

I rarely leave reviews but Project Solar has been nothing but incompetent and untruthful. The sales person that sold me the project stated the work will take no more than 6 months and all equipment is already in inventory, that was 2 years ago. I was also assured no roof work was needed, and they even had an inspection that stated the same.
Issues:
1) Now the project hits 2 years where I regularly get price increases. First it was for the panels that now are not in inventory, then it was for the electric panel as their original contractor does not want to do business them.
2) Now after they came and ripped down my roof, they sent me a new price adjustment $15,850 without seeking my approval to begin with. They have not even finished the work, my home looks like a mess.
3) In addition, the promised financing is no longer being offered.
4) I had to call them dozens of times and had to offer many corrections due to poor employee training and lack of detail.

Since it has costed me thousands in energy costs. They have also forced me to pay out of pocket for things like permitting twice (once again because a falling with another installer). Do yourself a favor and look for another another installer. Also, look at the BBB (Better Business Bureau) rating, its the worst I have ever seen for a company.

The process is straight forward if you do not care about what equipment or who installs your system. Project Solar is just the sales side of the deal and did not do a good job helping explain what equipment was chosen and why. Upon contract signing they have multiple allowable products to help ensure your project is completed to hold up their end of the deal and not have to pay you concession funds out of their profit. I cancelled my project after a few redflags and regret not further poking the concerns I had before signing the document.

I did the purchase as an option to do not put panels on my roof. Also, in case of an emergency to use it or if we need to move out of the house, we can take the power with us.

This company has a great vision, but leadership and structure are awful. If you want to work there, don't put much stock in promises or agreements made in the hiring process. Sales management is the worst I have ever seen in over 30 years of sales. Customers are able to get great low prices, but at what ultimate cost? They have one installation company to install all of their systems and that company does not have a great reputation. Installations will likely take far longer than promised, if they happen at all. You're better off using a local installation company that you can hold accountable. There is virtually no accountability here with the current management. It is all about the money, although they'll tell you they don't make much because they're the saviors of the solar industry and work on low margins. Yes, they sell cheaper than most, but they don't have any regard for those they screw over along the way.

I just received my Power Bank 2000 a few days ago, so it’s difficult to provide a detailed review. It arrived about a week late, but that’s the fault of the carrier. I have the unit charged to 100% , using the A/C line for over 50% of the charge and the solar panel for the balance. Everything worked well. As a result I just purchased a second solar panel to cut charging time in half. I expect everything to work well when I do need to power up my refrigerator and other devices.

TLDR: Just do it. You're not going to find a cheaper option than Project Solar (literally 50% of other installers), and they handle everything for you.

My wife and I were interested in solar, but after having two installers quote us around $30K for similar-sized systems, it was hard to justify the investment. A few weeks later, I came across an article in LA Weekly about Project Solar. I went to their site to submit a request for an estimate, and it came back just shy of $15k. I was shocked. How could they be 50% of the cost of other installers? I searched online for as much information as possible on the company, trying to prove its legitimacy to myself. I went as far as to look up their employees and founder on LinkedIn to ensure this was a reputable company. Having convinced myself, I submitted the $100 deposit, and Project Solar got right to work. They set me up with an account manager within one or two days and started the entire architectural design and permitting process. I also had to get HOA approval on my end. But about two months later, Project Solar confirmed my installation with a local installer.

They came out on a Saturday and got everything up and running in about 6 hrs. The system even looks sleek! From there, it took about a week for the City to inspect and sign off on the system, then an additional two weeks for our utility company, SoCal Energy, to grant the final approval to operate. Start to finish. Everything took about three months from my initial deposit, just in time for the summer heat (and higher electric rates). So far, we have saved about $200 on our electric bill and have produced more energy than we've used, so we expect a credit back at the end of the year (amount TBD).

Throughout the process, I exchanged 80+ emails, numerous calls, and several text messages with the Project Solar team. They answered every single one of my questions and held my hand throughout the entire process. A few emails went unanswered a day or two longer than I would have liked, but honestly, I couldn't be much happier with the team. If you're on the fence about using Project Solar, do it! You won't find a cheaper option; they'll handle everything for you.

Having spent countless hours/days/weeks trying to decide which solar company to use, dealing with the other guys and their salespeople, it was a breath of fresh air to find Project Solar!

Quite aside from fabulous price (which was considerably lower than the nearest competitor), Project Solar’s team do a great job of finding the right balance between being there when you need them, and never hassling you to sign a deal. That kind of approach is (as you’ll find out while shopping for solar) different, very welcome, and a deal-maker for me.

Basically, I saved $6k compared to the nearest competitor, had a great install experience, and feel like I made absolutely the right decision. A highly recommended company, great people, and a truly excellent business model.
