I’ve purchased a few guitars from Grayson’s and have had them ship to me across the country. They’re always well-packed, setup, and cleaned nicely. I worked with Connor both times, and he was awesome! Friendly, funny, and super accommodating. Well done, Grayson’s, and well done, Connor!

When it comes to purchasing musical instruments, the experience can often make or break the joy of acquiring a new piece. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Grayson's Music, a local music store that left me thoroughly impressed with their outstanding service and competitive pricing. In this article, I'll share my firsthand experience and highlight the key factors that set Grayson's apart from major chain music stores.

First and foremost, the level of treatment I received at Grayson's was unparalleled. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted warmly by the staff, who were not only knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about music. Unlike some major chain stores where you might encounter staff members with inflated egos, the team at Grayson's was refreshingly down-to-earth, professional, and humble.

One of the most significant advantages of shopping at Grayson's was the ease of the process. Unlike larger chain stores where finding assistance can feel like navigating a maze, at Grayson's, help was always readily available. Every single staff member was attentive and eager to assist, making the entire purchasing experience smooth and stress-free.

Moreover, I was pleasantly surprised by the pricing at Grayson's. Despite being a smaller, independent store, they offered competitive prices that rivaled those of major chain stores. In fact, I was able to purchase a Martin 00028 and a Fender American Performer Stratocaster at Grayson's for a fraction of the cost I would have paid at other music retailers. This combination of exceptional service and great pricing made my decision to shop at Grayson's an easy one.

In contrast to some chain stores where the focus may be more on sales quotas and upselling, at Grayson's, the emphasis was on providing customers with personalized attention and ensuring they found the perfect instrument for their needs. Whether you're a seasoned musician or a beginner, the staff at Grayson's takes the time to understand your preferences and guide you towards the right choice.

In conclusion, my experience at Grayson's Music was nothing short of fantastic. From the friendly and knowledgeable staff to the unbeatable pricing, every aspect of my visit exceeded my expectations. If you're in the market for a musical instrument and want to be treated with respect and professionalism, I highly recommend paying a visit to Grayson's. After all, as they say, your ego is not your amigo, and at Grayson's, you'll find a team of individuals who are truly dedicated to helping you find the perfect instrument without the unnecessary ego trips often encountered at larger chain stores.

I was in the market of my first J45. I was combing the pages of a famous online music gear site for a used one when Grayson’s Tune Town which is Ironically located an hour away ,sent me a deal I couldn’t pass. The deal came with 2 day shipping. It was a great experience. Thank you Connor. Check them out before going to the big names store and support your local shops. In retrospect I should have stopped by and checked the guitar personally. But nonetheless, the J45 was spectacular.

A Bass Players review of Grayson’s

I do not know why, but it seems like guitar shops all over LA are fully neglecting the Bass Guitar Category. Be it stocking useless instruments, understanding setup, or even talking about bass, it is almost as if shops have given up. Not Grayson’s. Over the past number of years, I have been looking all over LA for a good all-around bass shop and without a doubt, Grayson’s is it.

Grayson’s is not a large shop, but they have ample stock of versatile basses, good service techs and excellent customer service. I have special ordered peddles, high end gig bags, built a custom peddle board for bass, serviced my personal instruments and shopped for new basses. This shop is definitely worth the drive if you are looking for a solid Bass Guitar shop.

A few observations on Grayson’s

Assortment- They stock mostly Fender but not exclusively. They cover all the price levels from squire jazz basses (a few hundred $) to player deluxe P basses (about $1000) …. all the way up to full-on Fender Custom Shop instruments (about $+4k). The thing that I really like is that no matter the price, there are good looking and playable options. They carry 4 Strings, 5 strings, semi hollow, short scale Mustangs, acoustic guitar basses, Kala basses, vintage passive, active, G&L, Warwick…. Seriously, whoever is curating their bass department needs a pay raise. My only small gripe is that I would like to see a few more options in bass amps. Maybe something retro vintage like an Ampeg Portaflex. Or maybe light weight and modern like Bergantino…Aguilar is cool and all but I think they can just expand a bit.

Customer Service- the staff is friendly, helpful, and most importantly interested in understanding what you are looking for. I went in there with the goal of learning about Mustang basses. Not only did they have numerous basses on the wall, but they were also knowledgeable enough to talk about the difference and why I might choose one over another. Part of their customer service ability stems from the fact that they have actual bass players on staff and in their service department. Which leads me to another worthwhile point of difference from other shops…. every bass on the wall is set up, intonated and playable right away.

Anyway, I really appreciate the team over at Grayson’s and was inspired to write this post for a few reasons. I took a long break from performing on bass, about 15 years. When I finally decided to start practicing, auditioning, and now finally working again on bass, Grayson’s really supported me both with updating by gear and now also servicing my basses. This past weekend I played a three-hour outdoor wedding gig in pretty cold weather. After the gig I noticed that the neck on my bass was bowed forward. I stopped into Grayson’s on Monday to see if they could help and without even hesitating, Connor took my bass into the back and had their bass tech reset my neck…15min later I was back in action. I forgot to ask the tech’s name but I’ll have to follow up on that. No downtime on the bass. I really appreciate that. Thank you Grayson’s

I visited LA to see a friend and decided to hit a bunch of guitar shops for fun. I was super impressed with Grayson’s. Well organized, very well stocked, and the staff was super friendly. They weren’t pushy at all and let us do our thing.

I found a guitar I liked there and since they offer free shipping, I had it sent to me after I got back from my trip.

Guitar arrived in perfect condition-exactly how it was when I tried it at the shop. Next time I’m in LA I’ll definitely be stopping in again!
