The people in the office are generally kind but definitely not helpful. We were trying to get gas service started for a new purchase & they required a credit check. I didn’t want an inquiry on our report since we are in the middle of a purchase. Since we were past customers with perfect payment record I asked if we could waive this or verify by other means. I gave them multiple options like calling my employer of over 30 yrs or contacting our title company which was an acceptable option for all other utilities. They said no that’s the only way. So after a couple of calls to them with no help & no solutions I chose another company. Thompson Gas is great! They had no problem being flexible and verifying credit through our title company. And…. Their rates are way more affordable. With all of the negative reviews for JS west I’d figure they’d make some changes in the way they do business. I was willing to give them a shot but they really lost me for good.

No one likes to pay for energy - gasoline, electricity, natural gas or propane. But since we have to, we might as well spend our money with a company that respects us and treats us fairly. All of the employees I've had contact with were knowledgeable, polite, friendly, and didn't nickel and dime me to death. I've used a lot of different propane companies over the years, and JS West is easily the best.

We had a great experience with their technician, Mark. Our CO sensor detected a small reading, and he came out to investigate. We had a unique situation that was causing a small amount of CO to seep into the house, (not JS West's fault but a contractor issue). I got major Liberty Mutual, "we know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two" vibes from Mark after he pointed out the issue. It's clear he knows a lot about not only propane/propane accessories, but also many things on a home that could be interconnected with them. Thank you, JS West, for having qualified and experienced technicians.

They want to run a HARD CREDIT CHECK. If you say no, they won’t allow you to monitor your tank online, and they are rude to you with their tone and you feel like you’re being judged. I had just had my credit ran for a car and rental and couldn’t run it for a third time if I didn’t absolutely need to. They are expensive, rude, and all around ridiculous. If you’re able to choose a different company, do so. You’ll regret going with JS West.

Showed up today at the cabin, (memorial day weekend) found we had a small propane leak. Called the after hours number for JS West, Victor the on call service technician was on site shortly and repaired the issue, very professional and efficient. Thank you for the awesome customer care.

Easy to reach and friendly front desk. First time home owner and Victor came out for a tank inspection. He was very helpful in explaining all the things to know about owning a tank and service options. He also made a repair to the stove for us (we had a flame that would only go full blast and he was able to tone it back to normal). Above and beyond for just an inspection!

The ladies at the front desk are very rude. My family and I have gotten behind because of unforeseen circumstances. And asked to make payments of $100 a week. And was told that was fine. And that it was set up. The next week I played $100 and they still came out and turned off the gas and told me I had to pay the whole bill and $50 reconnect fee.

I explained that I have a 1 year old in the house. My car broke down and I haven't been able to get to work, and that I work out of town and I was told I could make payments.

They are very inconsiderate of my circumstances. And said I can call back when I can pa .
I work very hard to provide for my family. I'm not a bum. We have just hit some hard times and could use a leg up.

Really considering switching gas companies.

I have been dealing with JS West for 17 years and they are the best ! From Dana (the manager) to the friendly ladies at the front desk to their delivery drivers, they are all great and very prompt. You cant beat this local company for service with a smile!
