Truly-terrible experience. If 0-stars were available it would be more appropriate. For the TL:DR folk, there were over $10k in damages to the house as a result of using this company, and how they mismanaged the re-roof part of the Roof+Solar install.
A top tip for anyone getting solar from any company:- take lot of photos and videos of your roof work and solar panel install; you may come to rely heavily on them in court to get justice.

This has been going on for almost 2 years. In early 2023 Trulysun made multiple contract breaches, starting with installing a shorter lifespan roof than the one stated in our contract, and now not honoring the warranty on the contract. 

Through inexperience, and poor site management Mr Rubio failed to provide the contractors working on the roof with enough shingles, flashing, replacement roof boards, & the wrong color hip/ridge shingles. This caused delays in making the roof water tight, leading to severe and lasting water damage to the property by not protecting it during one of the biggest storms of 2023. I had to capture the water pouring through the roof, in buckets, to prevent further catastrophic damage to the interior walls. (see videos)
Mr Rubio pulled building permits incorrectly skipping onsite inspections and allowing multiple 
code violations (confirmed by the city public works inspector) to remain unfixed on the property. Damages to the house included:- Discarded Nails puncturing other sections of the roof, Razor blades & nails dropped in the garden for my kids to find, Hole left in the soffit allowing rodents into the attic, Driveway concrete gouges, Warping of roof boards from being soaked with storm water, Gutter not re-installed back and leaking, roof boards incorrectly attached to joists, drywall board damage from water and contractors not taking care, incorrect attic ventilation sizing.

Trulysun also filed permits with PGE missing information resulting in a 3 month delay in the solar billing, and I had to file them with PGE to prevent the delays continuing.

Due to the carnage, I held back ~15% of the invoice, and explained the situation to try to get resolution. Trulysun offered “$500 for my troubles”, and when I declined, Mr Rubio attempted to put a lien on the property and then took me to San Mateo Court to coerce payment. At this time, I also had the California State License Board (CSLB) create a case to arbitrate & adjudicate.
In both cases, at the San Mateo court and the CSLB hearing, the Judges found Trulysun at fault for breach of contract and workmanship, and awarded damages for the problems caused. Both cases are searchable (Search: TRULYSUN ENERGY CORPORATION in the portal).

After I asked for payment of the CSLB award, Mr Rubio illegally threatened to remove the solar panels from the roof, & then that he won’t honor the system warranty, as a way to intimidate & not pay.
Enphase technical support revoked Trulysun’s access to the system after the threat of warranty removal was made, as the board stopped responding, and had to be fixed.

This has been an atrocious ordeal from start to finish, and I wish I had chosen better. I’m still working through all the issues left behind, and fixing problems. Don’t make my mistake!

The work is complete and he even did a few extra things for us.

We recently had to replace our roof and we needed to find a solar company that will remove and reinstall our existing solar panels before the roofing company can start the roof replacement. The original Solar Company where we purchased our solar system went out of business and we had to find another solar company to help us with this home project. Since the re-installation of the solar panels, we’ve seen a significant improvement in the energy production and is an evident in the energy bills reduction.

Trulysun was the contractor that installed the PV system that I purchased from Project Solar.
I'm a mechanical engineer with high expectations, Trulysun did a excellent installation completing the work on the date and in the time expected. They left the yard clean and tidy after finishing. The county inspection passed without a hitch.
