We are lucky to have such a great and affordable municipal utility on the island! Anyone complaining clearly doesn't realize how much of a rip-off PG&E! When you call AMP customer service, you actually get to talk to someone in the Bay Area - a crazy thought in 2025!

All the one star reviewers complaining here should try PG&E!
I think it is fabulous we have a municipal power company on the island, and with it some of the lowest electric rates around.
The rebates are great and I've always had great interactions with them personally.

Hi, I just got my powe disconnected without any disconnection notice. I called to find out what was going on because my bill was only 139. When I call they told me they added 4,700 to my account for adjustments. They just added it yesterday and turned off my power saying that they had been an adjustment to my account. I spoke with Tracy the Manger who was nice but not helpful. She couldn't explain such a dramatic cost difference. I needed to know the time frame I owed the money and she couldn't explain. I told her I have no documentation of this change and she stated it was because if just happened. I asked her if I pay what is on my bill can she turn the lights back on but she said I had to get on a payment plan. The wanted me to put 600 dollar down. I don't even know what the 4700 dollars is for and they just want me to pay it with no explanation. I have my bill with the correct address and because they made a meter mistake I have to pay a crazy bill! ( I was paying every month for years) the Manger Tracy did not give any help or couldn't explain the bill. She stated that there is no one else to talk to but her and that there is no resolution.

The most unbelievably inept, punitive, and power yielding for no reason workers since the DMV. The end of humanity looks like the awful two women who answer the phones here— they should be fired for the common good. I would never provide my actual first and last name, and then treat people so disrespectfully. Karma has a way of catching up with companies and people— AMP is on the way out. Totally unsustainable and unacceptable for a paid service in a capitalist society to provide a subpar product with inept management and aggressive, unhelpful customer “seevice”. .

Applied for discount program due to hardship back in june and amp did a terrible job was following up on missing documents. It took weeks to hear anything back. They called me once in july, august and September. Then closed application with out informing me. When my mental health finally improved and i had the bandwidth i called to follow up and the team at amp was very unaccommodating about my situation and told me to reapply cause its “outdated” info now even though it is the same. Csr Wayne even implied that since i was able to pay my full bill during that time i didn’t need the program which is highly offensive and frankly terrible customer service. I am dumbfounded how these people still have jobs

I have had a similar experience as others on here and it seems to be a pattern. I received a letter from amp as well saying that my account with them was closed. Several phone calls and hours on hold later they revealed that they allowed someone else to open an account with them using my address. They then sent me a ridiculously large bill and told me not to worry..... They would work with me until it was paid off. They refused to offer a detailed breakdown of the charges. They then shut my electricity off without warning and demanded payment in full plus $200 for a deposit and reinstatement fee. I explained to them that I was one disability and that I had a special needs child but they simply said that they didn't care. They had the notes on file showing the error they made but again they said they didn't care. They just wanted money. I have been with this power company since 2012 and they simply don't care.

Amp is so outdated.

I had to submit an actual form to have autopay on my account. Then they didn’t inform me it was approved and going to start.

Now Tracy smith wants to be patronizing like I don’t know what return fee or insufficient funds means on the letter I was sent and emailed over to them telling them to remove the fee from my account for a bill I already paid in full. Do your job and help your customer or get a new job I bet you just enjoy your mediocre superiority.

Intentionally Dense miserable broads: I didn’t ask about the fee. I clearly stated I wanted it removed from my account. The only thing I need explained is why that missed happened and how you will fix it.

I came to ask for a print out of current bill and the lady said "I'm not supposed to help you with printing it out. There are few cameras watching me not to be helping you with this matter". I'm not certain this how AMP employees were trained and treat their customer like that. It's time to sell their business to PG&E or someone else who cares about their customers.
