GRID Alternatives was so great to work with. They qualified us for a No Cost solar system on our home, which included needing to have our main electric panel upgraded from 100Amp to 125 Amp. They completely covered the cost of the upgrade, by an electrician of my choice as we were further out of their standard service area for their own electricians. The communication was always made clear of what was to happen and be expected. I have recommended them to everyone I know, especially being a Realtor and seeing that this company is legitimate service to my clients as well.

This was such an amazing program! I flew out from Illinois with my university to Sacramento and learned so much about solar, community outreach and other ways to give back! I was able to get on a roof and install some panels. We met a lot of Grid employees and hung out with them on and off the work site and they were nothing short of amazing. If you’re ever in any of the areas that they are in I highly recommend you try to volunteer. They do a lot with re entry and services for low income families.

Have long wished to go solar -- it's the right thing to do -- but being low income I feared it may remain just a dream. Then GRID Alternatives began working in Richmond. I live in a large mutual homes corporation, we're on the National Register of Historic Places, our units are diminutive, and we had lots of red tape and hurdles which slowed down, for years actually, our ability to take advantage GRID's offer of FREE solar arrays to qualifying home owners. But thankfully GRID stuck with us through all that. And now we're going solar, for FREE. In my fourplex we all qualified and in September GRID's big crew of lead solar installers, techs from other areas being trained, and volunteers came and in two days hooked us up with an elegant block of twenty panels (five each). We put on a festive lunch for them out in the courtyard, it was a special day of team work. Yes, there followed a few weeks of waiting for inspectors, and for PG&E to honor their commitment to setting up our accounts with net-metering. But it all happened, and the four of us in my building are thrilled to be generating electricity. We stand out there and admire our arrays and can hardly believe it! GRID Alternatives has put together a great program and I urge you to check it out for yourselves!

Hanging out on a roof for a good cause? Sign me up! With Grid's experts installation looks so easy. You can either volunteer or work towards certificates, which will help you on the job market. Most of the projects take place in the East Bay Area. I hate morning commute, but once you're there, there's no a better feeling.

Amazing non-profit providing free solar installations to low-income families. One of my favorite experiences was climbing on-top of a San Diego rooftop as an intern while still a student at UCSD to help install solar panels.

A top-notch organization doing great things advocating solar for the masses.
