Install was good. But they have been non responsive to several significant issues. Took them a year to help get my monitoring only partially going, and my battery backup during outages often doesn't work which was the point of doing batteries! So they don't seem to care about these issues... i generate close to what i need but disappointed that the most significant infrastructure on my property isn't reliable and is undersized.

Pioneer Solar has been terrible to work with. The system that was not installed as designed and often goes offline. I have had a true up with PGE every year since installation and this year it is $3,000. My backup batteries have never worked properly and it takes them months to come out for service calls and months to get parts for those repairs. I wish I had gone with a different company.

Their Ca.Contractors License was revoked 7-2023 yet they are still contracting work. They lied to me from day one 7-2022 and my system is still not right. They would know this if they had monitored the system like they say. Sean now has offered to get my SGIP if I pay him the last little bit owed, This was part of the contract to start with. I had to hire a reputable company to file my application., because of their abandonment of my contract. So Please do your homework and check them out on the contractors website

Very good experience. Andy came out and surveyed our home and flew his drone over my property to get a sun exposure reading (no one else did this). Then he talked me through the process and shared some pros and cons concerning leasing or PPA vs owning as they do both. Then met with the owner Sean who put together a presentation of how the system works and what to expect. No high pressure sales and very comfortable friendly environment. Then James, the electrician/installer, came out and put together a plan and reviewed with me the installation process and where everything would go including the batteries. All this prior to me committing or putting any money down and still had 3 days to back out after making down payment. Very impressed with James knowledge, skill and attention to details. Installation went quickly and smooth.
Was disappointed in another company associated with SUNRUN in doing a PPA (leasing) who was high pressure and in a hurry for me to sign. Also contacted SUNRUN directly for a quote and they simply pulled our property up on Google Earth and said solar wouldn’t work, bye. Third company I got a quote from was good but didn’t go the distance Pioneer Solar did and was more expensive. They also are located right in Nevada City and available to answer any questions and provide follow up after completion. If considering Solar, no reason NOT to contact these guys for a quote.

From start to finish Pioneer Solar was a breeze to work with. I like the knowledge that we were working with a local company that stands behind what they do. They were able to squeeze us in and get our system up with in weeks of signing.
I highly recommend

Top notch service and crew. I got several other bids before picking Pioneer. More so then the price, was their team and there handling of the job. Everything went as planned and the whole process was very stressless. I highly recommend Pioneer Solar and their team.

So far, so good! Here's our story; we obtained approx 7 estimates from both local companies (in GV/NC), as well as larger state and national companies. Price was a factor, but more importantly we were trying to beat the NEM 3.0 deadline. Additionally, we are previous solar owners, so we knew what we wanted and were really looking for a 'connection' with the solar team...someone who would work with us and not just look at us 'another install = money'. The system we wanted was 12kW system, so it is a medium homeowner job in our eyes. The price tag is higher than it used to be (our previous home had solar installed back on 2017), but then everything is these days! Our electric bills were over $500+ ea month, so we REALLY NEEDED solar. We met with Andy once and then a few days later with Sean and Andy. We liked what they had to say. We agreed with their products and their pricing. We loved that Sean promised to deliver the system and beat the PGE NEM 3.0 deadline. Now, we are just waiting for the install...which is expected within 2 months. I will post/revise my post once we are installed...so stay tuned!

UPDATE 2/15/2024;
We have had our solar system for just shy of ONE year! I am sooooooooooooooo HAPPY we did this!!! I tell everyone I can to get solar! Yes, it costs money....BUT PG&E will cost you much more in the long run! Our system cost $40k, but we pay NOTHING for electricity!!!

NOTHING!!! FREE electricity from the SUN!

Do you have to have $20-30-40,000 in the bank for solar? NO!!! You can finance it. You don't need perfect credit to finance it either! And before you naysayers get an attitude about this, think about it this way:

1) pay $40k upfront for a solar system....pay ZERO to PGE
2) finance $40k for a solar system and keep your money in your pocket....pay $275/mo for your loan payment and ZERO to PGE

You decide! We chose to keep our money and pay a set amount each month for the life of the loan (ours is 20 yrs). This is such a no-brainer for us. PGE rates will NEVER EVER come down, our solar payment is set for 19 more years!

Call the folks at Pioneer Solar! You will be sooooo happy you did! They are a GREAT group of people who LOVE what they do! They believe in solar and so do I!
