I want to give a shoutout to the professionals at Hooked-On-Solar of Rockland, CA who recently completed the installation of a 13.5 kW-hr backup battery system at my home. They originally installed solar panels on my roof about 5 years ago and did a fantastic job with that installation, so I had no hesitation in employing them again when Ashlee Hahn sent me a proposal for a battery installation in November 2024. The signup, contract formation and invoice payments were pretty frictionless, and they got to work right away with a site visit, drawing preparation and submittals to the local building department and PG&E. They facilitated all aspects of the process including the PG&E review and approval to operate the system. The whole effort from the time I first signed the contract until the installation was completed was about 4 weeks. It did take PG&E another month to approve the system and allow it to officially operate. The battery, however, was up and running from the day the installation was complete.
Ashlee and her team (Nick for installation, Rodney as Project Manager and Brianna as babysitter for me while I anxiously monitored the installation) are all first rate professionals and I would highly recommend their services for anybody’s solar system needs.

As my solar panels and system gave me an issue, I felt frustrated and confused with deciding what path to follow. After calling Sunpower, I was directed to Hooked on Solar. Alfredo is the technician that went over and beyond as he's helped me to get to the bottom of an issue with my solar panels. Alfredo was extremely knowledgeaable as he asked me questions that helped him to understand what I was experiencing. Once he had an idea, he explain the components that my solar panels and system use without being on my property, and he was able to give me direction on what I could be experiencing as well as possible solutions. We realized that my system wasn't communicating to the app, and he had me sign in and out a few times while also getting things done on his side of the phone. He walked me through checking each component and he made resetting my system an easy process. Alfredo is the type of technician that should be commended because he sat through a million of my questions patiently, while answering my issue with great problem solving, experience and knowledge of solar. I couldn't have asked for a better person to help with this process. This review could never express how thankful I am that Alfredo was able to help us through this process. We're producing power, communicating and back to normal in terms of our system. My family thanks Alfredo and Hooked on Solar!

Avoid this company! I had a solar expansion done $22k. Never worked correctly from day one. Not only does the new solar not work correctly but they managed to make the old system not work correctly either! Had "project manager" come out to fix what his subordinate wired incorrectly (his admission) but couldn't figure it out so he leaves and never to be heard from again! I text and call and get no answers or no reply whatsoever. Now I am left to turn to Sunpower Corp to send out their guy to fix what this company messed up. Once they get the last payment they completely ignore you. Find someone else believe me.

UPDATE: They have now tried 5 times to fix solar and its STILL not working correctly. Each person that comes says its wired wrong and attempts to wire correctly to no avail. Hard to believe a solar install company cannot figure out how to wire the solar correctly....scary. They no longer are answering my phone calls or return voicemail messages left. This company is incompetent and should not be trusted to install solar. Avoid at all costs.

UPDATE 4-30-24. It has now been 7 attempts to fix concern and still NOT FIXED. This is the most incompetent company I have ever witnessed. Each person claims to know what wrong with it then after "fixing" it they say they will monitor for 24hrs. Never hear anything back for a month then the process repeats itself. This time they even left the electrical panel open and disassembled for me to put back together myself I guess. If I could get rid of these solar panels and switch to another company I would! Avoid this company you've been warned!

I wanted to upgrade my existing SunPower Solar system because our usage had gone up over the years. I started by getting three quotes from different Solar Companies. Ashlee from Hooked on Solar was the most informative and their price was excellent. I felt like the other companies were trying to sell me upgrades that I did not want or need at about 4X the price. It turns out I made the right choice. Ashlee and the whole team were very professional, courteous, and timely. If I had it to do over again, I would do it the same. Thank You, Ashlee and the team.
