From the moment I met Joa, I knew my GRE scores would improve. She's intelligent, kind, patient, and extremely positive. She has this innate ability to break topics down so you understand exactly what she's saying and trying to teach you. She's very easy to talk to and she really listens to you. I can't say enough good things about Joa. She's a wonderful tutor and I'm forever grateful to have met her. I'm thankful for the opportunity and our tutoring time together. What else can I say.....Joa's the BEST!!!!

Joa is one of the most patient and brightest teachers I've ever met. Most of the time when you meet someone as smart as her, they have a hard time connecting. She not only made me feel comfortable and at ease during our sessions, but she did an amazing job putting things into layman terms for me. The hardest part of the GMAT is getting over the intimidation factor and realizing that you have the necessary tools to do well. She does a great job helping you tap into that and building up your confidence.

Luckily I can say that I'm NOT a returning customer because through her help, I was able to do well enough on the GMAT to get accepted to a great business school and now I'm in my first year working post-MBA. I can, HOWEVER, recommend her to ANYONE who isn't feeling confident about the GMAT. She will help sharpen all the tools in your kit, build up your confidence, and help you get your best score.

Lastly, prior to working with Joa I took some private lessons and although the gentleman was extremely smart, his lack of interpersonal skills made it hard for me to deal with him for an hour at a time over Skype. The fact that Joa is extremely nice and calm really makes learning EASIER. Okay, that's all!

Joa was a great help when I was preparing for my GRE. She really helped me hone the skills I already had and strengthened the ones that were weaker. She also helped me devise a plan to maximize my scores when I ran out of time on certain sections and helped me keep my cool when I started panicking as test day neared. She was encouraging when I had some setbacks or when I had a week where i was so busy that i didn't have time to get as much work done as I would have liked to. She answered any questions I had coming up to test day, and took them seriously no matter how trivial they seemed. Not only is Joa a great tutor, but she was also super flexible and had no problem taking the time out of her day to answer any questions I had outside of tutoring time via email, or to send me a message of encouragement on test day. If I did not come to JEM test prep, my scores would have been a lot lower.

I had a great experience preparing for the TOEFL exam with Joa. When taking a standardized test it's very important to know the exam very well and have a strategy for each section. The day of the exam I felt I was really in control and knew exactly what to do in each part. Thanks to Joa I was able to exceed my target score and without suffering the practice process at all.

I had a wonderful experience working with Joa & Emily! I worked with both of them in specific areas of ACT Test Prep. I loved how we developed personal strategies together, which were extra helpful for test day. They answered my specific ACT Test questions, and they also explained the fundamental skill behind the test question for my full understanding. Joa and Emily were like my number one supporters-they never failed to give me confidence boosters when I needed them!

Emily also helped me with undergraduate admissions; she was my savior!! Before starting, I was clueless and overwhelmed about the admissions process, but Emily explained the approach in-depth step-by-step. She always answered my questions thoughtfully and thoroughly for my full understanding.
