Disappointing Visit to Torrance Refining Company on Sept 21st.

Our experience was marred by poor coordination from start to finish. The check-in process was chaotic and inefficient. With four family members having different last names, we were forced to stand in separate lines, wasting 35 precious minutes. This frustrating delay put us at the back of the queue for the bus tour.

To make matters worse, by the time we finished the tour, the kids' fun activity camps had already packed up. Our children missed out on the activities, and we felt like the entire day was wasted.

The refining team's disorganization and lack of planning ruined what could have been an enjoyable and educational experience. Hopefully, they'll revamp their check-in process to avoid similar disappointments in the future.

I am a long-time resident of Torrance, and I recently registered for the Torrance Refining Company's event, which was specifically organized to welcome Torrance residents to tour the refinery. Unfortunately, my experience was far from welcoming.

Despite arriving on time and showing my correct registration details, including the accurate address and my ID, the volunteers refused to allow me entry. They claimed their information, which contained an incorrect address, came directly from their superiors, and they were unwilling to rectify the situation. Their dismissive attitude and unwillingness to address the mistake reflect a concerning level of bureaucracy and poor service.

As a local resident, I expected better from an event intended to foster community relations. I left the experience feeling frustrated and disappointed.

I decided to write reviews down every time when you killing me with your toxic in air. I will make as many accounts I need, and will post every day when you toxic our air. You do it always at night when everyone sleep. I wake up from horrible smell from time to time. All my apartment have this air, and I cannot breath. And I live close by hermosa beach, in Redondo area, even not too close to Refining. This is insane how we cannot stop it. Today I have horrible headache because I was inhaling 3 house of your toxins...
09.19.2024 doesn't let me write another review from another email. Last night ar 3:40 am woke up from difficult breathing of toxic air in my room. This is insane. They purpose do it at night that people don't notice and don't complain much. They poisoning us again. It is so bad 🙁

Some days you can be fairly far away and still get the overwhelming wave of nasty smell permeate your entire area, even with windows closed. It’s weird how it comes in waves- I guess they release their toxins in gusts. If you drive down the block it looks like a horror story. Oddly, the reason this came to mind today is wondering why the air quality in my area says “very unhealthy” then I though- oh yeah- that refinery.

This refinery is causing a TREMENDOUS POLLUTION to the area and to those who live here. The amount of CHEMICAL EXHAUST tonight was so huge that there was no air left in our apartment, despite that all the windows were closed tight. That horror continued for a few hours in a row that we couldn't breath and couldn't sleep and had to use respiration masks that didn't help!

How can such disaster take place in LA on the beautiful Pacific Coast in the 21st century?!!

When the refinery was built, it was out in the fields away from everything. The company bought the land the refinery was to sit on. As it expanded, the company bought more land. Then developers bought land around it and built houses. Entrepreneurship at work ... free enterprise ... cheap land ... make a buck quick ... the American way. Now, the folks living there, maybe third, fourth, or fifth owners maybe more, are concerned about an industrial facility that was there first. Should the refinery have bought a buffer zone of empty land way back when? Would you like to have been paying a $1 a gallon for gas in 1950?

Walt Disney had the same problem with Disneyland. He bought all the orange groves he could and built the entertainment center. Developers bought all the land around. He did it different in Florida buying huge amounts of land secretly lest the price skyrocket. Then he could control the development of the land around the multiple parks. Yet, folks now complain about that way of doing things saying the "company wants to control everything."

No matter which way you do it, someone is not going to like it.

I have read most of the reviews, and some of them say there is a bad smell that comes from there , Well I have to say I live like 5 min away and I smell nothing .
Someone had said that something bad happened there back in 2015 dose anyone know if that was the only time something bad happened there ? Let me Know
