Long wait times on the phone. And the operator “Christine” was very rude. And I had to coax information out of her what to do and to turn my gas back on.

They were super unprofessional. Long Beach needs to get rid of these companies!!

If you can help it, please try not to deal with this company. It's almost unfair because Long Beach Utilities company is the only company to get utilities connected in Long Beach. And, unfortunately, the customer service is horrendous!! When I call, it always seems like no one really wants to help me. They are more than happy to tell me their policies and limitations but they force me to find a solution to my problem. It's like they expect ME to be an expert on setting up my gas or water service. And then, I had them bring a technician out to fix the mess up that another technician caused. They called me to let me know the tech was outside. I didn't pick up the first time but within one minute I heard their message and tried calling them back right away. I also ran outside to meet with the technician. The tech left right away and the service center was closed...all within 3 minutes of receiving the initial call!!! Long story short, long beach needs another utilities company or new management or something because this is like tyranny.

Terrible, awful, there are no words to describe the level of incompetence in the people that work here. They had to turn our gas on after we already had no hot water for a few days. Our phone was accidentally on silent and I saw the phone flash out of the corner of my eye as they called. I sprinted downstairs to the gate to meet the dreadful “sorry we missed you” note with no one in site. They didn’t even knock on the door (which makes a loud rattling noise when you do so, it’s metal) They had to have waited 5 seconds, not 5 minutes!

The woman on the phone was the most untrained customer service rep I have ever spoken with. She said if they messed up they could have them come right back out, but since we “missed” it, it would be ANOTHER WEEK for them to come out. Are you kidding me? That is an inhumane amount of time to live without cooking or bathing. According to other reviews, they wouldn’t have come back either way.

If this was a regular company they would have the means to get someone out sooner, and also have educated staff on how to handle situations. I was so upset we couldn’t cook or take showers for another week and she said I could call 911 for help. Like what? It makes me sorry I moved to Long Beach because I have to use them. This is exactly why you don’t have a city run it’s own utility.

I am so agitated right now that my hands are shaking. A service technician scheduled to appear between 12-4 arrived to my apartment complex leasing office during the scheduled time period. There was no one in the office and he left thus causing me to incur a missed appointment fee and continuing another day without hot water or a working stove. I called to reschedule and after a metaphorical circus, I was asked "will you answer the phone when dispatch calls after the technician arrives tomorrow?" So apparently I have to tell them during the initial service setup, that if you cannot enter my building, you need to contact me and I will come to help. It is required that I be here for the appointment so instead of having his dispatcher call me, the technician just left.

Contacting a customer should be a standard practice when there is a perceived issue with a service appointment. I don't think that is unreasonable and it was confirmed by their acknowledgment that this will happen tomorrow. Now I just lost 8 hours of my vacation time.

I will be asking around to see if there is a formal complaint department so that I can help them improve their customer service process.

Ok so my first experience was HORRIBLE. The technician got lost and they left without trying to call me again. They then proceeded to reschedule me for the FOLLOWING week when i had already been waiting a week. Then I had the pleasure of speaking to a new customer service agent name ULISES. He was AMAZING AND HELPFUL AND SO NICE. He got me an appointment for same day and within a few hours. I am now awaiting the technician to come again. Ulises you are amazing at customer service and I hope you get a raise because you really go above and beyond.
